I do. Just flip it to a grey. Keeps me sweet with the AD, too.

No one is going to admit....i'm sure a good 90% of thew folks in here never had intention about buy a Rolex or add another one if it was for the current value.
It's so easy to tell the wife "hon, i'm dumping 10K from the kid's college tuition to make a quick thousands". Of course, it's easy money. I don't blame anyone who does it. It's all fair games...wish they don't be a cry babies when they can't get one. Too many childish behavior from an adult lately when they can't get what they want. Pretty sad to see some of the members on here acting that way toward a watch. It would be hilarious if it plummet hahaha. It wouldn't effect the rich folks..the 1%. |

It's a weird journey, for sure, but you know when you really want something and you get something else? It's that. Sure, it's still an awesome piece, just not MY grail, you know? Also, money should factor into this as well. For me dropping $12k wasn't a big deal, for others it could be a major decision. With Rolex I'll happily buy anything I like, though, funny enough, I can't even pull the trigger on a $4k Nomos or a $3.5k Speedmaster even though I like them a lot. Rolex is a weird kind of addiction, the only real substitute would be an ALS or PP and then I'd be dropping way more than I'm comfortable with. Just like the crown I guess. |

Definitely that energy will rapidly plummet when the item is a normal depreciating object. |

I have only ever purchased three Rolex watches.
1) 116610 LN 2) 116610 LV 3) 116710 BLNR All three of these I wanted and never settled for another model. The only one that was easy to get was the LN and that was a few years back. That said the only watch I want right now is BLRO and that doesn’t seem possible unless I’m willing to pay a premium, which I won’t do. So if I can’t get one for retail then I won’t settle for another Rolex just for the sake of having a Rolex. If I do want another watch I will most likely look to a different brand as there are other piece that look quite interesting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Plenty on this forum have bought x because they were waiting for y
Or bought z because it's hard to get, not cuz they wanted it. It's a trap many fall in. AD will call and say they got a particular model and everyone wants it but I'm calling YOU first because you are such a great customer. Then they buy it just because they can. I haven't gone this route but many have. |

I bought an MG because it was available. While it might not have been my first choice if all models were just as easy to come by I definitely didn’t didn’t want it.
My only rule is this; don’t buy a watch you wouldn’t want to be stuck with. |

Hmm. I’ve been fighting this annoying urge myself.
Once i saw my lovely 16710 i knew it was the watch for me, so i shelled out and got my first Rolex. I knew nothing of the current hype and just put the price down to it being older and therefore harder to get. I also knew that i was not attracted to the six digit GMTs. I’m still not. My rational brain knows that. The only motivator to even try and get one is FOMO/an extremely well functioning capitalist media market place that triggers something in my hunter/gather bit of brain. The only references i really do want tend to be five digits, so i can take my time with them. |
