I personally cut off the extra loop and seal the cut with a flame. On some watches I keep the extra loop if there is to much room between the spring bars and watch case. The reason why is when removing the watch it can slide off the nylon strap is there is to much room.

You are way to logical for me!!! Lol. Tbh all the ones I’ve liked in terms of looks and colours have come with the extra under strap so I’ve just had to cut it off. Have you got any good suggestions of quality retailers? Thanks

I was wearing a Nato last week. I kept wondering what the extra metal loop at 6:00 was for. I can see no purpose.

That Explorer is fab...looks great on just about any strap...the Bonetto 328 is now a new favourite
