I think the moderators are taking care of this issue already. I posted a shortage thread of sorts two days ago and it never made it past the firewall.
You’re welcome. |

Why don't you just post original content of you own instead?
If everybody complaining about "shortage threads" started to post something "else", then it would dilute the "toxins" from the forum... If they do what you propose, then i would ask that all threads tattle tailing on AD's not saying hello fast enough when entering the store be put in a sticky too.. Then the next dude will be sick of people posting "Is it safe"...etc. |

I do not know what an individual shortage thread is. Are we missing some folks here?

Only if we can also shutdown the endless threads like with for example "which watch are you wearing while walking your pet monkey?" Or "shows us your watch with your speedo."
Let's police everything and tell everyone what they can or cant do. Sounds good to me. Or let's ban threads COMPLAINING ABOUT COMPLAINING. I am more in favor of that. |

I'm the one who wears his watch with a speedo. If TRF doesn't ban shortage threads immediately, I swear I'll post pics!!!!

That is what a forum is for to discuss. If you don’t want to read it, pretty simple just go onto the next thread. Remember some people just want to express their opinion, some are new to the forum etc.
Yes people could search for the same post, but to be honest and maybe it’s Tapatalk, but I never have luck with the search function. It never finds relevant / newer content. |

I guess I like for everyone to have their say. Whiners and entitled OPs generally get called out and disappear. The troll posts made just to rile folks up generally are successful and daily.
I just think of another Rolex group I used to visit a lot and the moderators, stuffiness, limited discussions, and inability to easily post photos killed that forum. So my opinion , which is worth what you paid for it, is that I can skip what I don't want to read and move along. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

Is there a shortage? The watches are available. Just at a huge mark up.

The supposed shortage is such a big part of the current Rolex environment given that it impacts so many and will naturally form the basis for a large amount of threads. Making a ban on that would correspond to making incomings as sticky as well

We do have some good threads. Just have to read all the way through them!

Why suppress it? At least that’s an interesting discussion and with more substance than black or white dial, should I sell or not, should I swim with my Rolex or not, how can I wear it and not scratch it... Those are the threads that ought to be banned.

Frankly I couldn't care less if the threads continue. Perhaps someday they'll turn around!!! If something is disinteresting I just don't bother.

Well if the shortage topic gets banned then all we will have is “value” topics:-)

I actually don't mind them at all. It's a real part of the current Rolex world and I think it deserves discussion. The main thing I like about individual threads is the individual experiences. Since I am on the hunt for a hard to get SS sports model, I like to read about how some have lucked out, how long some have had to wait, personal experiences with bundling and wait lists, people who have given up and have went with a grey, etc. The individual shortage threads gives me a real sense on what's happening with the availability. It a great insight into the chances of people actually being able to obtain these hard to get pieces. If there's a thread that's just ranting or doesn't contain any useful information to me, I just usually skip over it.

How many of you would like to see an end to the individual shortage threads?
In the last ten days, I’ve been in Rolex/Tudor ADs in the following locations:
Buffalo, NY Arlington, VA Atlanta, GA Dallas, TX (3) Portland, OR (2) Boston, MA (2 today) I’ll give everyone a summary, since I’m as exhausted by this topic as anyone else, but the story was identical in every single one: nothing interesting. The only sport models I saw across the board were a TT Daytona in Buffalo, a TT sub today in Boston, and a RG GMT at a second Boston AD this morning. One in Dallas had a used WG Skydweller for a tempting price. Boredom beyond these pieces. The same Tudor models largely were available in each, but one in Boston had the 1926, which at least had an interesting dial that I’d never seen in person. Great value. Yawn. I’m tired of such threads too. |

We are all here as a watch loving community, if people want to vent to their fellow community members so be it. It is a healthy release of Rolex related stress and we should all be here to provide words of wisdom and support. I am happy to be an unintentional shrink for my fellow members.

I don’t like the shortage complainers, but I am a believer of this old saying: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
This is a discussion forum, if we resort to “ban” on everything we disagree with, we will soon find ourselves devoid of anything to discuss. |

You can't stop the flow. It would require the mods to swim upstream and they are already generously donating enough of their time.
