I’m no expert, but expect that damage requires more than a polish.

Wear it. Buying links yourself as available over is your best option

I recommend sending it to RSC, they will make it like new!

How is it running? The crash may have affected the movement.

If it's still keeping good time, the jeweler can replace the bad links. You will pay their markup on the parts though. You can send it to the RSC and get a quote, compare that to your jewelers quote. The RSC quote is free.

X2.

To deep for polishing.

Looks like a few new links and a quick polish and you'll be good to go. From the pics it appears that the removable links are the ones that got damaged.

If it’s running fine, I’d go the new links and bar route. Only thing, is that a permanent link? Good luck with the repair.

New links and a light polish on the other bits and it’ll make it good as new. Don’t stress. Lots of people here making it a way bigger deal lol. I once dropped a mint 16710 lug first on tile whilst slipping out of my hands when changing the insert and it bent / dented the lug so bad the bracelet wouldn’t fit back on it. Sh** happens

Can't tell us this and not post pics or tell us how it ended and what was done!

Also, on the thread title... I thought it was another OCD obsessed, 'keep everything in vault' person with a tiny desk scratch that now wanted to send it to RSC... I was quickly corrected :D

I've seen worse... :D

Normally these threads are cringeworthy, where someone posts about a hairline scratch that you need a microscope to see .But in this instance it's the real deal & I cannot recommend highly enough sending it to a RSC as soon as you can . Oh I hope your ok after your fall .

Yeah, that was the effect I was going for, might as well make the best of a 'bad' situation. It's somehow comforting to see a watch even banged up (a lot) worse. Was that watch ever fixed or not to your knowledge?

No idea... but when you look at the watch (and even yours), what looks like a big deal in the end isn't. Changing saphire bezel, insert... And you've already got 90% of it sorted.
With yours, indeed, changing a link, or finding a pro that can polish it. If ever it's ruined, you can always exchange it at RSC for a replacement (or even buy a new one outright if you feel they are ripping you off with trade in value).

The better question... Hopefully the wearer survived
Good to know your misfortune turned out alright!

Thanks for all the kind words everybody! Such a great forum here! My body will heal, no real injuries thankfully. And the watch itself is most likely just fine so I think ordering some links is the first step.

I've got an Oyster Perpetual 34mm to keep me company untill I can properly wear my Milgauss again. Also I'll work on getting some straps and I'll work on my swapping-out-my-bracelet skills. I was thinking of upgrading to 1 watch but this is the reason we have multiple watches

Cheers!

Just buy 2-3 links and switch them out yourself. I wouldn't involve RSC or a watchmaker...completely unnecessary.

One of the damaged links is not removable and the other is the easy link. This is not just a buy a few links and change out on your own. I’d just send it to Rolliworks they will make it brand new and they’re unbelievably reasonable in price

Wow, normally when I see a subject like "First scratch, should I send it to RSC?" I'm expecting it to be some small scratch, along with responses of people rolling their eyes and saying "there will be many more to come, you can't polish it every time". In this case, that's a REAL first scratch.

I'd just replace the spring bars and get a couple replacement links. Nice durable watch though!

I would send it into RSC or trade it in a buy a new bracelet if the case isn’t damaged but then again I’m a little neurotic haha

S&C and Gassan are not a RSC but a jeweller with a Rolex service department. S&C for me no way, Gassan I don't know.

If you want to have it perfect go to the Rolex owned RSC in Koln or Brussel.

Very good independent Wesselink & Vreeker in Alkmaar.

Forget about your local jeweller, that probably will turn out to be a huge disappointment.

Thanks for the tips! I was actually setting up to contact a regular jewelry store. Guess i'm fortunate to not have had to worry about watch repairs just yet. I contacted the one in Alkmaar, i prefer to stay close to home with it, but we'll see what they can do!

I clicked on this thread fully prepared to say it was no big deal and where it with pride. But yeah, get that fixed. Good one!

Glad you're okay!

And to the people that think it's a bad idea to cycle with a Rolex...rubbish.

NATO can look really nice, yours looks great! Before it all happend i had my eye on a rubber ABP R strap, it's so wrong that i think it would be just right. But i'm still on the fence on that one, wish I could photoshop it see the end result. I'll go and order a nice NATO if I can find one. And obviously i'll show some pics!

Not sure you would consider this but I needed my TT jubilee bracelet repaired and decided on Michael Young out of Hong Kong. The final price was less that $500 (including shipping) and I was extremely happy with the repair. You may want to send him the pics and get his impressions, but he does excellent work - for far less than a new band. Do a search and his info will come up. Need to be patient as mine took about two months.
