From all of the watches in that display case....I would go for the Daytona hands down!

You’re kidding!! This might be the end of my Daytona love—if it’s noticeable. Seems ridiculous that Rolex would mess with the proportions of the lugs on one side to balance out the pushers. |

Yep the Daytona has basically remained unchanged for years. Huge watches have come and gone, but the Daytona still remains. Yep it's a small 40mm and can be worn by the ladies, but its still an icon. Try the ceramic, it can seem larger and wears with a little more presence IMHO.

I was in the same boat, tried on a Batman and realized it was way too small for me. Same with the Hulk. I guess I am fortunate in that I am a big guy and wear bigger watches because of this. Tried on a few others and narrowed it down to the SD43 and Sky Dweller models as both are bigger. Ended up with an SD43 just because it is more versatile, can dress it up or down. Will probably own a Sky D at some point when the hype wears off and I can get one at MSRP. Did get my SD43 from an AD at MSRP and it is an amazing watch.

Really? Doesn't bother me at all. I think it's the right thing to do, considering the pushers.

I have to agree on the size of the Daytona. I was excited to try one recently, a two tone, and while I liked the combo of gold and steel I was totally underwhelmed by the size. Will have to give it another try before making a final decision and if not then might go for the skydweller instead.

Crowns/pushers are separate parts from the case. I feel that the case itself should be a perfectly symmetrical piece no matter the size of the crowns/pushers. The 5 digit subs don’t look proportional to me—the crown seems oversized but I’d rather get used to the oversized crown then have uneven lugs. It’s a minor detail and since it’s probably barely noticeable, it won’t bother me too much. |

I don’t equate cheap with light, rather functionality. Yes, they left the monstrosity maxi case off the Daytona thank god, and the result is one of the most balanced watches that one can buy. I looked at several high end chronos last week, all excessively thick and saucers on the wrist. Yes it does not scream hey look at me, but is more understated and refined (the ss models at least being understand)
What I came to realize is that so many chrono are thick and chunky because most don’t have the technical inginuity to make a thin chrono movement that’s not in a monster case. |

The Daytona is always in demand and is a beautiful watch. It is bit hard to read and the chronometer movement is basically worthless given the size of the dials, but it has great wrist prescence. And if you ever need to time anything you likely have your iPhone with you don't you? Actually I quite love the watch. Those 3 subdials on the main dial and the pushers and crown coupled with the tachymeter (that nobody ever uses) just looks good.

Daytona looks good. I tried the black watch phase with a Panerai Tuttonero. Its a fad that wears off quickly, especially for me. They’re cool and look different but, they’re tiresome after the novelty has warn off.

Ugh I wish my AD had a preowned section, not to mention one with so many classic 5 digit options as this one.
As a Tudor BB owner I can definitely speak to their build quality and value, but the heart wants what it wants so if you're after a Daytona I'd wait on trying the ceramic as it will feel much more modern. |
