Lastly, in your opinion what would be the top three hardest sport watches to get in stainless steel from your AD. THANKS
Make no mistake, the AD's are getting watches. Rolex makes up to a million watches a year. The AD's keep many steel sports in the back for their VVIP clients who frequent the store and give them lots of business. And many AD's sell steel sports directly to the grey market dealers to make extra profit. It's a business and they want to get in on the surge as well. Why sell a Daytona for 12k when you can sell it to a grey dealer for 20k, and also pawn off a bunch of two tones as part of the deal.

The desirable models are easy to shift, and the ad then has to work to get rid of the rest.

That being said, another ad was able to 'predict' that he'd have the watch i wanted (op39 white) on the next weekly shipment from rolex, on the basis that one hadn't been sent one in 3 weeks. Not sure if this means they do have some visibility on shipments, or if the shipments they receive are a little more structured/consistent and not completely random.

I am pretty sure AD ordering works like car dealerships (and many other retail business) and is not really all that mysterious.

1. AD’s can put in “an order” to purchase anything they want and at anytime; however, ADs are only allocated a limited number of slots for each type of watch and the hot/in demand models have very limited allocations. Allocations are probably released semi-annually or quarterly.
2. The number of allocations of hot models that they get is probably based on the volume of product they purchased in their previous order period. Less desirable and/or more profitable (PM) pieces probably help drive the AD’s status with Rolex and ability to get allocations of hot pieces (as these are guaranteed profit for the AD). Therefore, ADs are incentivized to hold these hot pieces for high value customers (big spenders) or to bundle them with less desirable watches and sell to grays.
3. Rolex likely requires a minimum order per period to remain an AD and the ADs have to balance the likelihood of moving more less profitable Datejusts and OPs vs PM watches in order to keep their profitability going.
