I’m gonna take my whores to the hotel room I’m gonna ride until I can’t no more.

I rarely listen to the radio, always listen to iTunes. One day I’m in my wife’s car with the kids and this song starts playing and I’m hearing it for the first time and my wife and kids (9&5) start singing along. I hit the power off button so fast and gave my wife the WTF?!? look. Later on she asked me what that was all about and I told her I couldn’t believe that she would let the kids listen to, let alone, sing along to the lyrics. She asked what’s the big deal about taking your horse to the old town road. We argued about what he was saying. Well, obviously she was correct but if you google my version you’ll clearly see I wasn’t alone.

Well thankfully I don't sing, there is enough air and noise pollution around anyway.

But I will agree that a LOT of songs have lyrics that are hard to hear or understand and even more bizarre is that people use some songs as anthems for whatever point of view they're promoting and the actual song has nothing to do with what they are saying.

They take a small sample of the lyric and think that's what the song is about.

Born in the USA, anyone.

I believe it’s Manfied Mann, “ wrapped up like a douche”
Another is Stone Temple Pilots - “ where you going to masturbate”

I believe there is an interview where Eddie talks about changing the lyrics because he doesn't even remember them.

One of the great early songs for misunderstood lyrics was "Louie, Louie." Everyone had their own lyrics, the dirtier the better. J. Edgar Hoover investigated.

Btw, there's a term for a misunderstood lyric: a "mondegreen." Coined by a writer named Sylvia Wright in a 1954 Harper's article.

Were very familiar with mondegreens around our house.

When we watch BBC TV shows together and compare notes at the end, she saw an entirely different show than me. She grew up in Wisconsin and I in Canuckland.

After 21 seasons of Midsomer Murders, nobody in the entire county is left alive and we are all very grateful.

She just doesn't understand why they are speaking Chinese half the time.

Almost everything sung by the High Wiccan Priestess Stevie "Billy Goat" Nicks.

When she begins channeling the words are thoroughly incomprehensible.

Rolling Stones:
Don't wanna keep your pizza burnin'

Bon Jovi:
Ohhh we're half way there
Ohhh livin' on a prayer
Take my pants
We're naked, I swear
Ohhh livin' on a prayer
