I havent checked price for the 5 digit pepsi, but if people are saying it goes for 9500+ then the shop is likely to gain a lot more from it.

The MSRP for the DJ41 is around 8000 USD (?). They bought it for 8000 - 33% = 6160.

I'd offer a swap too if I was in the ADs shoes. So in essence they're buying a 9500+ watch for 6160... They can flip this in a heartbeat for a 2K-3K profit. Easily.

If you were to go ahead due to happiness-factors, then ask them to put you first on the next Batman that arrives. Win win.

OMG no! I have a 16700 bought new in 1995. It’s a staple must have. Trade in for a modern DJ? The store staff are quiet taking bets to see if you’ll do this. You’ll forever tell the story of the time you traded in a vintage gmt for a whatever ...

I was at a Tourneau the other day and they had a similar era Pepsi for 11,500.
Fluted bezel DJ retails for 9,450, smooth bezel 7450 both on Jubilee.

Trading straight over for a fluted bezel wouldn't be the worst trade in the world but not great, straight trade for the smooth bezel is highway robbery IMO.

Well, you stated that you are tired of the pepsi.
Financially it would be a good trade, I am sure you paid much less for the pepsi vs the msrp on the DJ41. You are the one that has to wear the watch, if the pepsi no longer puts a smile on your face, get rid of it, and get something you like.

IMHO if the watch is no longer getting wrist time as it no longer draws your eye or gives satisfaction then maybe it is time to move it on. If other watches are catching your gaze when you are out window shopping then it maybe time to sell your watch and put the funds into something else.

Getting the best price for your timepiece is going to be key, selling to a dealer is rarely going to get you the best price, but payment is guaranteed.

It is your call which way to jump, if a new watch is more appealing then make the move, as long as there is no regrets further down the road.

Just because you can does not mean you should. If you decide you want another, it will cost you 2-3 times the amount of the DJ. There is a reason prices have gone up on the 5 digits, they are way nicer and more balanced than the new versions. Don’t believe me, the markup in the used 5 digits as a percent of the msrp is far higher than the 6 digit references. That’s also occurring with a massive amount on the market and attainable now.

Direct trade with a 41 fluted jubilee blue dial only. If he does't have it let him order it and wait. If you like the one he has then ask for fluted bezel.

I would take a few deep breathes ..

You'll be able to get a DJ41 fairly easily. Just hold fire, sell the GMT privately and buy the DJ with cash. You'll probably bag yourself about 2k for your effort and patience.

If you're bored of the GMT and want the DJ, then it is what it is.. don't be miserable with a watch you don't want because of over hype.

Wow. Landslide. Right now, I on the keeping it side with 20% only to accept the fluted bezel trade. Pls do keep in mind that the new merchandise will have sales tax over it so the out the door price is $10k+

Now that being said, your you trade a 16700 for a new Sub date? Now this is really tempting for me.
