The blue dial is absolutely stunning; my vote would be the blue.

can't go wrong either way - but I do think it depends a lot on what your daily attire is going to be. (This is totally my opinion) but I think if you're wearing it to work with a suit everyday, the silver dial is probably the way to go; however, if you're mostly a khakis and button-down guy, and a t-shirt and jeans guys on the weekends I'd probably go blue dial. Additionally, don't buy one without trying it on. I have bigger wrists than you and I have a vintage 36mm DJ that I wear all the time and I don't find it to be too small at all; but you may not like the way it looks on you.

Both great choices and size is your preference. I'd like to see the Azzurro blue dial in person.

I had the same choice to make and I opted for the silver dial. It's classic and versatile. With all the hype about blue dials these days, I couldn't help but feel it's a fad that will eventually fade away and make the dial look dated down the road. That being said, I did pick up a blue Pelagos as well, so I'm a sucker for blue, too.

I don't have any other watches but I doubt this will be my only watch in the future.

My attire will be mostly casual with formal dressing here and there.
I've tried both on, there was one 41mm in silver in the exact configuration I wanted but felt that 41 looked too big on me personally but the color was amazing and they had a 36mm blue dialed DJ but it was a smooth bezel on an oyster bracelet. Could only imagine how beautiful the blue would have been on a jubilee bracelet with a fluted bezel.

Which of the 2 is more "shinier"? Not that I have any issues with reflective lighting on the watch at all just curious

It depends on what you already have.

I'd lean blue though. Rolex does blue very well.

Extremely torn between 2 datejusts

Maybe this will inspire.

Thanks for all the replies.

How in demand are the blue dials? I would guess the wait time is significantly longer than the silver dials in the exact same configurations for the datejust?

If you like both enough to the point that you are opening it up to the opinion of others, then it's probably safe to say that you will be happy with either. I love the blue. It really changes in the lighting. If it was your one and only the silver might be a little more versatile.

I’d go with the silver. Also, unless you’ve a monster 8 inch wrist, the 41 will look out of proportion.

The silver dial with fluted bezel and jubilee is much shinier than the blue dial with smooth bezel and oyster. I guess, any fluted/jubilee combo will be shiny and glitter based on how the light falls on the watch.

I would definitely choose the silver dial! I owned a 116234 with blue stick dial, fluted bezel, and super jubilee bracelet. I became bored with that blue very quickly and wished I had purchased the silver instead. In my opinion, Rolex does some great blue dials but the DJ blue dial is not one of them. Obviously many do not agree with me.

Silver. I like this super classic dial. There is a presence of something airy, shiny and happy.

Silver is a versatile classic but both are nice. Also, 36 is the classic size...good choice

The 126234 on my 7.5" wrist. Tried the 41 and thought it looked too large for this style of time piece. The 36 is an all day love affair.

Classic as it is, I find the silver dial too monochromatic for the DJ, so blue dial is my vote.

If you're into a classic Rolex look, with a bit of a vintage throw-back feel, the 36mm is a great choice, and certainly not "dated." I disagree that 36mm is too small for a 7-inch wrist. My wrist is a shade under 7 inches and I find it perfect.

It's not always just about the actual size of the case. There are so many other factors when it comes to design. I found the 41mm DJ too big and chunky design-wise. There was something out of proportion with it to my eyes. (Meanwhile, I love the 42mm Speedmaster, which is obviously bigger.)

And getting back to one of the previous questions, the blue dials are much tougher to find than silver. Took me a month to find this new 126234.

OP
Did you try it on to see size on your wrist?
Someone else can comment but the DJ41 is only 39.5mm, so I am wondering if the DJ36 is really less than 36mm?
I own the DJ41 and when someone on the forum commented about the size, I had to measure mine, yep they were correct.

Love my rhodium on a jubilee, works so well, really please with my purchase.

But, and its a big but, I like the blue, and the silver and the white, I fancy another DJ41 maybe on an Oyster with the white, or another on a jubilee with silver and fluted or white and fluted or......

And don't get me started on a TT version

Blue probably harder to pickup at an AD as it is in more demand, also more expensive at the grey market. Anyway would recommend blue!

I did try both sizes. I like the look of the 36mm more than the 41.
