Are you sure your wrists are 6 inches? From that photo they look larger than mine which measure ~6.3

yeah that picture is just a bit deceiving i think but my wrists are also flat so maybe that contributes a bit also. when i tried on a dd40 my wrist was covered lug to lug

Many dials to choose from...... have gone through 4 different dials on my 36 mm 18239:

Originally silver:

Then white:

Then glacier blue with diamonds (platinum exclusive dial):

And now blue:

Received this one...

Returned it and paid a little more for this one...

I love the blue dial with sticks but only comes in 36...hope to add the DD PT with ice blue diagonal to my collection at some point.

I love the classic look and appeal of YG. My uncle wore a YG DD (1803 likely) and that’s the DD I fell in love with back in the 80’s.

But I liked the understated look (if you can say that about any DD) of the RG...it draws less attention to itself. Also, I prefer the sticks with lume since I wear my watches 24x7. If I wake up in the middle of the night, it’s nice to just glance at my wrist.

Finally, just before heading over to the AD, my mom wrote me a poem about roses (we have a shared love of gardening and a lot of memories growing beautiful rose gardens). The RG sang to me and I thought I’d always remember my mom and her beautiful roses.

Wow that is an amazing explanation, love that you went with what you like and it has that sentimental value reminding you of mom everytime. I was actually going to ask the same question on why you returned the YG as that would have been my choice. They both look fabulous on you though, good choice.

40 mm RG with olive dial would be my choice.
That dial goes great with WG too.

Honestly didn't see it was rose gold in the second pic. Looked to me like WG initially

But glad you went with what you liked! Enjoy

With WG, I personally think any dial with contrast works. Black, gray, blue, green all look great. For me white or silver dials on WG are a bit too dull, belong on RG or YG.

My Dj dial style is this but in a grey. I prefer a dial without the lines. Cleaner look and I want something different I already have.

I would love a YG DD40 but I can’t justify spending that much. Have been looking at used models on a brown leather strap though and I’m tempted.

I would go with white or silver stick on the 36mm DD WG. I really prefer lume on a Rolex watch.

OP - Given that you want a WG 36mm DD with Romans and a different look than your gray DJ, and you’re looking to spend not over $10-12K, you might want to consider a “Buckley” dial DD.

Ideally, you may want a reference 18239 (~1988-‘99), rather than an (older, ~1977-‘88) 18039 or (even older, IIRC ~1958-1977) WG 1803, as the 18239 will have the most updated (3155, double-quickset) movement in your price range. However, I’m not certain whether they made 18239s with Buckley dials - To get a Buckley, you might have to find a WG 1803.

Below is a blue dial Buckley 1803 in YG, and a blue dial 18239 with non-Buckley Romans (neither of these is mine, as I don’t much like Romans). Any WG model will have WG hands and Romans, rather than the yellow gold ones shown on this Buckley 1803.

Platinum DD40 with Romans is probably my grail, I really like that watch a lot. It's super understated with the smooth bezel, and I love the dial.

I think it would be a good 50th birthday gift to myself in about 18 years - something to dream towards.
