I have a tough time paying even MSRP let alone above MSRP.

I can’t tell you what to do but if I were in your shoes I would not. It’s just a watch

I would wait! The GMT's seem to be coming to market more frequently. BLNR more so than BLRO but I think the bubble is ready to pop.

Man, these threads are all the same..you could cut and paste any OP's story on top and all the responses would be the same - buy it, wait, get a G shock, contribute to the madness, don't contribute to the madness, prices headed down, prices headed up, FOMO, YOLO....

It's fun! Name another luxury good that gets obsessed over like this one...

Happy Thursday!

Prices seem to be down a little bit but I still can’t get over paying over MSRP.

There is another (possible) option...

Purchase grey now but put yourself on list at AD. Make memories and enjoy grey GMT now. Once AD GMT arrives, flip it. Whatever profit you make will reduce the price of the grey you bought.

Buy anywhere around $16.5-17k and you won’t get hurt with the BLRO.
It’s a luxury purchase for me so $5k either way wouldn’t raise a blip of concern for such a outstanding watch. You have to factor in what your time is worth.
If Rolex raised their msrp and you paid $16.5k out the door with sales tax would it make you feel any better???

I am taking my BLNR on a two week Disney World family vacation I splurge for every year. New watches and vacation is a great combo.
Life is too short.

If you are worried about the premium then I suggest you open your mind as to what else the premium money can buy outright. If you find it then you are not of the kind who will fixate on a particular model bar none. If you don’t then the answer is right before you as well.

Buy what you want. You can always sell it if your AD comes through one day.

Patience..or just do it...

I went grey for the mark 1 version and am very happy. Can’t get those vibrant colors from an AD now anyway so you’re stuck paying more. I’m a big fan of the blueberry/purple/fuchsia colors. I think they look awesome and sort of like a faded bezel from back in the day. Mark 2 and mark 3 I would not pay above retail for.

By the way if you have a Costco card and you drink, you should go to the Costco, pretty good selection of various liquors at good to great prices

Walk into an AD and tell them you're thinking about buying it from a gray.
.....but you came to them 1st.

Could be worth a try in a few places.
Tell them your story.

I don’t mind waiting, if the wait is realistic and reasonable. So kind of depends on how long you have to go. If you have a long ways to go or have no end in sight, I say just do it. Life is short!

This. I really enjoy my modest 5 digit sub. But I spent wayyyy too long waiting for it. Not financially. If I had bought it 5 years earlier and spent 5K more, it still would have been worth it since I would have got to enjoy it all that time. Same with all the stuff that helps us enjoy the relatively few years we have here.

The new Corvette. Whatever it is, C5, C6, C7 or currently the C8. Want to be the first on your block to own one, it will cost you many dollars over MSRP. Be patient and wait for the hype to die down and for those poor suckers go through the first few years of a new GM product and you can pick up a new one for a substantial discount off of MSRP.

Same for the new 911. Most Ferraris.

Rarely do you see this kind of behavior over the new F150, but then they make nearly a million of them every year. Yes, that's right. I googled it.

I'm a long-time Corvette fan/owner, and everyone at work keeps asking me when I'll get a new C8. I reply that I won't get one until it has three pedals. I feel like getting a t-shirt made so that they'll stop bothering me about it. Not once has anyone asked me when I'm getting a new watch.

Buy it if you want it, and can reasonably afford it.

The true price isn't MSRP if you can't buy it at MSRP.

That's kind of harsh.

A thousand dollars to me is different than a thousand dollars to you. We have different sources of income. And we probably have different priorities.

Some people will pay 50 thousand dollars for a watch that will be worth 40 thousand in a week. Some buy used, and have the same watch for 35 thousand.

Bottom line is, if you want something, you decide if you should buy it, and it's financial cost is basically a moot point.

I bought my Jeep in 2005 for $22,000. In 2012 it was worth maybe $5000. Today it's worth around $22,000.

Go for it if you can afford it! I got mine for retail and, honestly, I don't think its worth the grey price. But life is short and you should do what makes you happy.

Set a time deadline, say 3 months or 6 months and then go grey if it doesn't come in. Retail price is same as it costing a million if you never get one.

I was in Maui at the Whaler's Tourneau AD in Aug.
I never bought anything from Tourneau before.
2 sets of people ahead of me asked for SS models and were told nothing in stock.

I chatted with the SA for a bit and she noticed I was wearing my Daytona.
She said she had a few SS in the safe and offered me the SS Sky Dweller Blue dial.
But had to either bundle with a Ladys DJ with diamonds or $10K+ jewelry.
OR Batgirl with any 2 tone Rolex.

Wear your Daytona and go to that AD.
Try to sweet talk them and buy something in their back safe.
Be prepared to bundle.

Have fun in Maui.

I'm surprised it took that long for you to receive a PM like this.

The profiteers want to vacation in Hawaii also ( on your dime ).

Stay patient my friend.
