Glidelock on my 126710 BLRO

I have ordered a brand new GMT Oyster bracelet (polished links) and its due to arrive today.
I am now worried that fitting it with the Jubilee links will be bad on long term as it will not be a perfect fit.

Can you please advise me whether I should do it or not ?
Really love the oyster and can't fall in love with the Jubilee !!!

I think other people have done it without any problem. I have the Sub glidelock not the GMT oyster so can't speak from experience. Do a search for other threads. There's lots of information about swapping bracelets out there.

I swapped out the bracelet on my Oyster Batman for the Glidelock using the original GMT spring bars and I have no issues whatsoever. I like that brushed look from the original pre ceramic GMT and the glidelock is awesome.

Maybe the person making the comment just means while it sits tight against the watch head with GMT springbars, he doesn’t like the fact that the smaller diameter center of the springbars don’t completely fill the larger diameter hole through the endlink of the Sub Glidelock bracelet.

I think it would make me constantly wonder if that would long term wear the inside of that bore unevenly to the point of eventual failure ... which would really suck if swimming in the ocean or even a murky pond (loss), or while walking across a bridge (loss or damage) or even falling on a tile floor (damage), skydiving (loss), etc.

I would much rather count of the engineers at Rolex and their intended design for long term use without failure.

For this reason, perhaps Rolex should design a larger center, smaller tip springbar that will fit both such that this change can be made with Rolex’s blessing (from a metallurgical and engineering design) perspective. It would also allow them to sell more bracelets.

Should Rolex completely do away with spring-bars and go to a screwed-in cross bar or such?

'Ball' has a nice design going for this.

(Except the Rolex purists would likely not like being able to see any sort of attachment from the side view of the watch.)

With SS prices the way they are, it's almost better to buy the WG 116719, so that when, or should I say if the prices go down, you will still have inherent value...

I would have an issue wearing that, but like the 116719, it looks great.

If someone says, "Nice ROLEX! That's my grail" What would your reply be?
