A lot of aftermarket parts when I had my local watchmaker check it out. When I tried to return it, no returns accepted. Cost a bit to replace everything on top of a service.

I have to ask- which furniture shop?

That's really cool. Which movie set was it? How were you involved in the movie?
If my memory serves me correctly it was “The Package” With Gene Hackman.

Bought a 16613 on my lunch break from a woman on facebook marketplace. After some more research it appeared she was a stripper. 10/10 would buy again.

On Gumtree (Australia's version of Craigslist). Listed around half normal asking price for that ref. Took a punt, paid off.

Great stories.

But I wonder how many of these turned out to be fake or stolen Rolexes.

This one. And the poor bastard probably couldn't even report it stolen for fear of his wife finding out.

Sent from the voices in my head and transcribed by their drinking buddy.

Tried to buy a vintage red seadweller in the waiting room at the doctors office after talking about its history for awhile. After informing him how special it was and offering fair value he wasn't selling.

Some awesome stories, Iran during the revolution sounds nutty. My strangest would be at a casino in a hotel room which isn't all that strange really. I think the sellers probably have the best stories. I bought a watch from a guy named John Lydon, a longtime old school seller. He told me some of the hassle involved with selling a 7-figure watch to a Sheik (or similar - I don't quite recall) and it involved crossing borders in the middle of night and dealing with absurd amount of middlemen.

In the 90's.... At a flea market where a watch dealer had a booth selling mostly vintage watches, mostly from the1800''s to 1960's. Watch collecting was different back then.

A GMT II Coke in a back office of a nightclub in Camden, London in 1996

My friend was a club promoter and I paid him £1200 at the time! So wish I kept that watch.

Hmm. Interesting. A handful of us Chicagoans have had pretty mediocre luck with the local ADs.

I gave an old 2 Tone Datejust away to a girl I'd taken home one night .
I was really drunk and asked if she could borrow it ( They usually take a hoody) .
I never did see it again , maybe she'll pop up on this thread with her story :)
