Went back and forth on these two for months. Had the original DSSD and didn't like the dimensions or comfort so was leaning towards the SD. Hated the cyclops and really just looked like a larger sub thats way too common. Ended up going with the updated DSSD JC and SO SO SO happy I did. Dimensions and comfort are perfect with the updates. I got it for a true beater (ocean fishing, hiking, dirt bike riding, etc) but is taking over daily duties from my APs because I enjoy wearing it so much.

Yes my size was a deciding factor ( 6'1 220 ) it fits like how a sub would fit a average sized person.
Not that im a giant, but my brother is 5'11 140lbs and if he would put on a dssd it would be enormous . Sent from my G8343 using Tapatalk |

I have 3 subs(LN,LVc,WG), the SD43 and the JC DSSD. The SD 43 is worn the most. Best all around diver in my opinion.

Love the thickness of my DSSD.
Contributes significantly to its wrist presence. My Subc and GMTc almost feel too thin. The DSSD would be better in titanium. The weight is a bigger issue to me than the thickness. |

Thank you ! My first TT and it has only grown on me everyday. It wears better IMO due to the extra weight, compared to the SS SD43 (which I've had, and was a great watch). Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Neat! I bumped into the watch in the case of my AD, slept on it, went back the next morning and purchased. I don't think it's as hard to come by as others but not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you for the pics OP. Incredible how when I wear my SD43 I do find it big, not that I mind it, but now seeing it in comparison to the DSSD it doesn't look big at all, and I used to wear a DSSD a few years ago.

SD43 for me. Made me realize how delicate the GMTc is.

I’d love to see a mk3 dssd at 14.5 mm thick and all else remaining the same. Go ahead knock the max depth by a 1000 feet or so , I’ll be ok :).

Absolutely love both. The DBlue though is THE diver for me. Everything is spot on in my eyes. Never tire of it. So unique and just feels special.

Great comparison pics. I was able to try on my friends new JC and was a little surprised it didn't really swallow up my 7" wrist.

Oh my God, the JC looks like 2 SD43 stack on top of each other. 3000+ meters bellow sea level can't be done without throwing the JC proportions out of place. Too tall for the width of the bracelet no matter the width of the wrist it sits on.
Tnaks for the image.

The SD43 it really looks like a normal fat/Sub
I prefer the size and thickness of the DS JC |

Does look mammoth next to the SD43, but it's not that big. These photos are a bit deceiving, the Deepsea is closer to the lens so it will look much larger.
Put two Daytonas side by side with one an inch closer and it will look like a 42mm watch next to the other. |

Could have had a black DSSD but when trying on, seemed awkwardly big for my 6.75" wrist. Offered an SD43 NYs eve day and pulled the trigger. Love the dial on the JC but for me, it would be more of a collector piece than a watch that I could wear daily...........

Why not a picture of the faces next to each other? I would like to see how much larger the dial on the SD43 is than the DSSD. I think the DSSD is much better in it's current form than it was originally. The wider bracelet wears so much better, but I still really dislike the Ring lock thing.

Both great watches for sure. I tried both on, and dig them both but ultimately went with the 126660 D-Blue (after previously owning an 116660 black dial). MUCH more wrist presence for me and I wear my watches in front of my shirt cuffs, not underneath them so that’s a non-issue for me.
Slightly larger than average at 6’2” and 210 lbs with a relatively flat 7 1/2” wrist, it’s my go-to for daily wear and is extremely comfortable even after a full day on the wrist. I wear it for my personal enjoyment, but I do have to say: I get more compliments on my D-Blue than any other watch I own. Several of my buddies own SD 43’s and wear them well - great looking reference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I put a ruler on my SD43 and YM40. The difference in dial was less than 1mm. The dial in the Deepsea could be smaller, but I doubt it's more than 1mm based on the dial pictures in the Rolex catalogue which I printed and measured too. I'm under the impression dials are are at scale in the book. We'll never know for sure though until someone shows a picture of a caliper on each dial dismounted. As I said I suspect it would be less than 1mm. If you think the dial in the DSSD must be much smaller because of the ring lock, I've noticed that in the DSSD, you have a vertical rehaut. In the SD43 you have no ring lock but a rehaut at an angle. Bezels are identical. So dial size could be very close. The dial catalogue can be downloaded at this link if someone wants to have a go, page 59 and 61: http://pics.r-l-x.de/picserv/files/3...Dials17_18.pdf |

I am going to replace my 16800 with a larger diver, and it will be the DSSD.
I love the domed crystal, and the d blue dial. The SD 43 is a beauty also, but doesn't quite have the same effect. |
