Really like the strap, but think the picture are too poor to make a proper assessment of the condition imo. Looks polished though

If it had a ton of really deep dents and scratches then it was polished an appropriate amount.

The polish nazis will not like your watch, but all the sane people will. Including me!
Please enjoy your watch and don't let the internet ruin it for you. |

It is polished but dont worry about it. It's a tool watch, wear it and enjoy it, it's an old Sub. What's not to like?

To each their own. Is it over polished, maybe... yeah okay it is. But so what? Still a Rolex still a sub! It has its own charm and character and tells it’s own story. Beautiful thing about metal is that it can be reshaped and redone and polished.

Soft edges. Who cares. Watch looks great and can be worn and enjoyed for many many years. Enjoy it!

Eh I've seen better, but I've also seen much worse. I'd say no, it's not overpolished. Don't drive yourself crazy it still looks good in the picture below. The lug holes are a little oblong and it's not razor sharp, but it's still got plenty life left and the brushing is still visible on top of the lugs. If you really cant stand it have the case laser welded and recut.
Agreed. This still has the general shape and the brushing is still visible |

Since people who think this is over polished are being branded as some kind of unreasonable nazis, then let me suggest a solution. If you, OP think the watch is over polished, then simply sell it to one of the people who think there is nothing wrong with it and use the money to buy a watch that still has a sharp case.
However, I think you may have trouble getting the same amount of money for this watch as you would have to pay for a watch that is in better condition. People may come in large groups and loudly proclaim that your watch looks great and there is nothing wrong with it but when the time comes for these people to put their money where there mouth is they all mysteriously disappear. Make of that what you will. Talk is cheap, but a real honest conviction of beliefs is not. |

It looks alright to me. At least you won't be upset if you clunk it into something. Unlike the anti-polish nazis who presumably ponce around with permanently factory fresh Steel Submariners. Gotta protect those chamfers.

I agree it not BNIB but it's a great Sub being used as it should be; wear it and have some adventures with it. It'll become more meaningful than just a watch in mint condition. IMHO they mean very little like that.

No. It looks just fine. Wear it and enjoy it. Send it into RSC when it needs service and they will send it back "Like New"

Also, OP bought the watch, so your implication that no one will be around to buy it is also false. |

Agreed - crown guards are actually in amazing shape (perhaps even untouched by whoever rounded out the lugs =X)

My 14060M (K) has been serviced and polished by a RSC twice. I think your lugs will be fine with the correct finish. Your crown guards look better than mine?

If you like it who cares?
But what price did you pay, not the details but was price matching condition Where did you get it from, was the description and picture accurate. If you bought at a fair price you can sell at a fair price one day if you ever fancy a flip into a new watch |

The crown guards look very good. However, in the first two pics, the edges of the lugs look very rounded. I think this can be remedied somewhat by a skilled polisher. It's not terminal.

Remember, we're not born with Rolex watch knowledge, folks need to start somewhere. To the OP: Your Sub ain't perfect, but you could have done much worse. I like it and you should be delighted to own a classic 16610. Sent from my SM-A520W using Tapatalk |

This is not really a big deal. He can have it serviced and if he asks Rolex for a new case they will provide it. Simple as that.
