September/October are usually the busiest months of hurricane season these days. Are you sure you wouldn't want to go later?

Royal Caribbean is the cruise line to take. Unfortunately we've taken 2 in the last 2 years and we're cruised out. Western Caribbean on "Freedom of the Seas" and Southern Caribbean on "Adventure of the Seas". Both were BEAUTIFUL ships.

I think their newest and largest ship, "Oasis of the Seas", will sail the Western Caribbean for the 1st time this fall.

Here's a picture of "Freedom of the Seas" I snapped in 2007. That ship has room for over 3500 people. We had an excellent time!

I was wrong, I was just on the Royal Caribbean website, "Oasis of the Seas" will have a Eastern Caribbean schedule this coming season and then starting in May 2010 have a Western/Eastern schedule depending on the week. All are 7 night cruises. IMHO January is the best time to cruise. It's after hurricane season. Only worry is snow in your departing city. We book for a night or 2 stay before the trip as a "cushion".

Eastern Carribean Dates and Ports:

Ship Name: Oasis Of The Seas
Departure Port: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Ports of Call: Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Nassau, Bahamas; Fort Lauderdale, Florida
2009 Date(s): 12 Dec , 19 Dec , 26 Dec
2010 Date(s): 02 Jan , 09 Jan , 16 Jan , 23 Jan , 30 Jan , 06 Feb , 13 Feb , 20 Feb , 27 Feb , 06 Mar , 13 Mar , 20 Mar , 27 Mar , 03 Apr , 10 Apr , 17 Apr , 24 Apr , 08 May , 22 May , 05 Jun , 19 Jun , 03 Jul , 17 Jul , 31 Jul , 14 Aug , 28 Aug , 11 Sep , 25 Sep , 09 Oct , 23 Oct , 06 Nov , 20 Nov

Western Caribbean Dates and Ports:

Ship Name: Oasis Of The Seas
Departure Port: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Ports of Call: Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Labadee, Haiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; Fort Lauderdale, Florida
2010 Date(s): 01 May , 15 May , 29 May , 12 Jun , 26 Jun , 10 Jul , 24 Jul , 07 Aug , 21 Aug , 04 Sep , 18 Sep , 02 Oct , 16 Oct , 30 Oct , 13 Nov , 27 Nov

A little about the ship. (from their website...)

This new class of naval-engineering genius features the first-ever neighborhood concept where everyone can find their unique experiences in one of our seven distinct onboard districts, including: Central Park - a public space combining nature and nautical; Boardwalk - dedicated to family, fun and featuring the new and entertaining AquaTheater; and the Royal Promenade - the heart of many Royal Caribbean ships, that's now bigger and better than ever.

Ship Facts
Guest Capacity: 5,400 double occupancy
Gross Tonnage: 220,000
Staterooms: 2,700
Decks: 16 high
Length: 1,184'
Max Beam: 154'
Draft: 30'
Cruising Speed: 22 knots

I won't be able to make it this time as well
After buying my new Planet Ocean, and (possibly) getting a new house in a few months, taking a cruise right now is probably not the best thing to do for my finances

I didn't even see that this thread was started in March... and Christopher you don't have to apologize for anything, it looks like it kinda just got lost around a bit...

But I really like the idea! A 5 day cruise with a bunch of TRFers! I think it would be a blast! We might even be able to coax some retailer on board and offer tax free deals in international waters or something.. (probably pretty obvious I have no idea what I'm talking about in this area). Anyway, if this could be set up, I would truly love to attend, meet all the great people on TRF... and JJ too....
