I will definitely go into as many ADs as I can! Just from what I have read in this forum Central London ADs tend to not even want to put any walk in client on "the list".
If there are any other watches that you think you definitely want in future, for yourself or your significant other, and if any of those are not in-demand SS pieces, I’d start there.

With that in mind, no it doesn’t matter if you are not local to the out of town AD.

Paying a visit to an out of town AD once per month to say hey, never buying anything and asking them to keep you in mind for a Daytona (or whatever) isn’t going to work.
I second this. Waste of time and at least I value my time more than this if the upside is to..buy a new watch with zero discount?

Yes. I lived in SW England for 4 years (‘15-‘19) during the height of Rolex really becoming crazy crazy and nearly every small AD in smaller city questioned me very hard on if I was a resident or tourist. Most even wanted to know if I lived in their city and nearly asked for proof!

Think about stimulating the grey economy. Tons of choices in London.

From my experience it will be next to impossible to get a Hulk in London with no purchase history. And even if you buy other stuff - London has just too many high spenders to make it worth while for an AD to ‘gift’ you the opportunity to buy a hulk.

The smaller ADs in the more rural areas around London are much better, but are being consolidated lately so are becoming fewer. Also, they will want you to be in their ‘catchment’ area to sell you anything hard to get.

Also, be careful with the chains - WOS for example share their back end systems, so going on a list at a WOS store and a Goldsmiths store will likely hurt your chances. Or multiple same names within the WOS group.

Good luck!

[QUOTE=jamesthejeweller;10230613]Lol, London Rolex ADs don't sell Rolexes, they're just a bunch of 2nd rate sales people with Napoleon complexes. Buy in Germany or Spain if you want any chance of getting what you want.

I don't know about Spain but here in Germany the situation regarding SS Rolexes is dire, actually non-existent. As of last week none of the three big ADs here where I live (one I have small history with) had any SS watches. Same for Berlin after telephoning around. This isn't just because of Xmas, it was exactly the same situation in summer! Luckily I'm not desperate for a new Rolex!

I've had a different experience in Germany, I can regularly get what I want in 6 to 8 weeks in Düsseldorf. I do have a pre-existing relationship with all my ADs though, besides UK ADs are crooks, I won't support their shameful practise out of principal.

Might be wiser to ask which barbers to use (and avoid).

Avoid all barbers that charge anything more than £15 for a cut.

Willing to go grey? It’ll be a lot easier. Watch Club in Mayfair have a few nice examples.
