Because of all the hype. And the Explorer is beautiful and understated.
I love the BLRO, BTW. It is a classic... I easily obtained it from my AD mostly (being honest), cause I knew it was very hard to get, and that was a small part of the allure for me.
Now I am Pepsi'd out LOL! And will put it away for a long time. Then, I will take out for a spin again when I travel.

I love that watch! I got my first Rolex in September, a SubC and thought I'd be ok just owning and wearing the one but I've been obsessing over the Explorer ever since. There was one in the display when I bought the Sub. I should have taken them both and asked for a discount! It's understated and that's the appeal to me, I want something that won't draw any attention when I travel but still looks great and has a history of adventure!

The perfect Rolex. I rebought it earlier this month. Managed to wear a sub one time since. Sub is too bulky feeling now. Enjoy your new watch.

Nice watch. But give it 3 months. See if you still enjoy it more than BLNR... had same effect on me. Was “perfect”. Unfortunately lost touch with it and sold it shortly after. Hopefully, does not happen to you!

Definitely prefer it to the ceramic GMTs which are a bit too bulky for me. Enjoy it

Just a reminder. I have the BLRO. Just enjoying the Explorer much more at the moment. The Explorer, a desert island watch for me.

My # 1 favorite. Wear mine on most days. Never gets old. The dial pops in my opinion and love the brushedness/mattness off the watch
