I agree the 5711r is a beauty and keeping it pristine is important, I wear mine selectively and so only have a couple of marks on the bezel in over 4 years so it can be done.

Yours is a beautiful watch and must agree its lustre would go down if hard worn.
For this reason my choice would be a Rolex fluted or ceramic bezel for daily use.

Thank you for sharing!

I have been a watch lover since the early 1980s and (for some reason) I have never acquired a taste for PP. Between a gold Rolex or PP I would take the Rolex. Besides the main contenders (Rolex DD, Sub, Daytona, etc in gold) I would rather have a Cellini moon phase or gmt over a PP and enjoy the savings.

If your question was gold Rolex or A. Lange & Sohne, then my answer would be different.

DD40, PP 5712, PP 5726, PP 5164. Since you have all steel models already Id go for a PM piece.

I believe across the board that Rolex does the best PM watches on bracelets for the most reasonable cost in the market. I will not confuse the issue, PM DD on a bracelet. You will have a watch for life, that will be in-style 50 years from now. Even if you are not.

I'd go Rolex full gold first and perhaps try Patek Calatrava later when I retire.

+1 and part of why after decades of Pateks gave up and sold 'em.

Ask around OP, and you'll discover FJ Journe is considered by many to be a superior product to Patek.

Patek. You’ve got enough Rolex already. Nice change up

Thank you everyone for sharing your comments and its very interesting to see the thoughts from Patek owners as i never had the chance to own one.

None of my watches are safe queen and definitely not for sale. I enjoy wearing all my watches and taking them out everyday just for admiration. That's how much I love my watches!

Personally for myself, i wear the black daytona a lot more than the white one as i think think looks more sleek and glossy . The white one is nice in pictures but in flesh it looks a little flat for me.

The 5711r is just the pinnacle of Patek sports watches imo. Simple yet complicated at the same time. Though I do love me a 5980 chrono as well. You always have a great eye for dials Neil and the 5711r may be the best in the game imo

A Patek dress watch would complete your collection nicely

Many thanks, Ben's latest pics on the Patek forum really showcase the immense beauty of the dial against the fine gold finishing, he takes exquisite pics.

If a PP chrono then patek. Though I don’t necessarily like any gold Rolex. They are sport watches and so what’s the point other than having more dial color options which is nice.

Hey OP if you already provided us with an answer to 'which rolex and which patek' you're referring to, then i must have missed it and I apologize. But if you never responded, then I will just take a wild stab in the dark and say gold DD.
