Hi. I think it is not a question of "scientific angle" or not. It is a simple matter of distortion
that appears with every magnifying glass use. Perhaps instead of making a judgement based on
a single picture, you may first handle a real rolex with cyclops and by turning it in different angles you'll
understand what other members are trying to explain to you.
Regards.

you are assessing Rolex's QC with a picture where the watch itself may or may not be perfectly level in both the horizontal and vertical position and a camera lens that may or may not be perpendicular to the watch face. Throw in the fact that the picture was taken in a non-controlled environment and the cyclops gives off magnification distortion properties.

That said, i do not believe there is a QC issue with Rolex and the date white/cyclops. Rolex makes almost 1M watches a year. How many date window issues have you encountered to come to this conclusion?

To answer your question, no Rolex does not have QC issue. and Yes, I think you have OCD ;-)

I’m guessing his AD told him 5 year waitlist so he bought a fake one

Here’s one where the date was off; it’s been to the Dallas RSC twice. So far so good now...

I think it is OK but as mentioned previously because of perspective may give impression of misaligned.
Despite of earlier comments, very nice post showing your good attention to the details

It's perfectly normal, especially with sapphire crystals.

It has been discussed here many times.

Some say that it is aligned that way to improve the viewing angle when the watch is worn on the wrist.

Then of course, there is the issue of camera angle.

Whatever the underlying issue is, the phenomenon has never bothered me and I do find that not having to fully rotate my wrist to get a good look at the date is helpful.

Philippe needs a nice soft toothbrush to clean his Jubilee bracelet.

Cyklops alignment has never been an exact science with Rolex... It’s a hand made mass product, there will inevitably be slight imperfections here and there, nothing to worry about. If you want perfection through and through, Voutilainen or GF are more like it... and even they have better days than others.

Sometimes the entire crystal or dial can be slightly rotated during assembly, caseback tightening etc. More likely than the cyclops lens and AR treatment being done crooked :).

Yes, but it's related to the LEC on the crystal, so LEC can act as reference, to know whether the entire crystal is rotated, or just the cyclops is crooked.

It's the angle of the shot. I can take it at multiple angles with mine and appear off centre etc but they're all perfectly magnified.

It's the problem of crooked cyclops I guess.
Off-center cyclops can still parallel with date window, they are different thing.

Visual illusion due to wrong perspective and the color combination of the bezel. . It is common to pepsi. When I looked at my pepsi my first perseption was the same.

Anyone else think it’s cool that a giant in the independent watchmaking world chooses to wear a GMT?

It’s the angle of the wrist, ever so slightly pointed down. The cyclops is fine

I wonder if Philippe Dufour and Jean-Frederic Dufour are relatives...that would explain it :-).
