+1
21% VAT on watches imported from outside the EU. Customs are targeting you when you are a returning resident from outside Europe. Got checked a few times coming back from holiday. Fiscal surpression democracy.

I don't understand why all the fuss. Is it even illegal to travel with the box and card?? As long as the watch is sized (but what does this even mean given some of us wear them super tight and others wear them super relaxed) but mostly without stickers and all, and doesn't look sparkling brand new (and the card is not dated yesterday!), you can claim you want to keep it stored safely in its box while you are wherever-the-hell you are. I don't see the problem.

Write up your own sales receipt that you bought the watch from a "Wayne Lee". Put a discontinued cellphone number on it and sign it yourself as Mr Wayne Lee. Go to the CBSA, with the paper only and register the watch as having paid duties based on you buying it used as per Mr Wayne Lee 5 years ago.

You think the CBSA has time for stuff like this?
