I don't have either one. But the Daytona holds no interest for me due to hard to see the time and no date. That leaves the BLNR.

Either way I'd say no, at least not at this time. The Daytona grey market prices are insane right now. You said it yourself...you'd have to add too much. You say "too much" because you know deep down that it's not worth the current asking price.

I've debated this myself quite a few times, and have always come to the same conclusion.

There is nothing special about the Daytona. There are plenty around if you want to pay the inflated price. It is Internet hype that has elevated it to some elite status. I have owned 3 over the years. I would look in the safe and say, "Oooh I have a Daytona" shut the safe and wear a watch I enjoyed.

Those who love it and can get one for a price that suits you, great! Just don't buy it for the type.

If the spread is “too much”, you have answered your question.

Both are great watches, I wouldn’t pay more than retail for either, so that’s another consideration. If you paid retail for the BLNR, maybe wait till you get the Daytona for retail.

Honestly hold onto the BLNR. I found the Daytona more comfortable but couldn't stand not having a date

I wouldn't. I'm a GMT guy. The Daytona does nothing for me.

I do have an Omega Speedmaster to fill the chronograph itch.

I would not pay over MSRP for any watch. I never think of my watch as a tool, Its more of a jewelry. If I needed a tool, I would use a phone or a smart watch.

Las paragraph so true.Because people can’t get the Daytona they chose to hate.If they had it would be the best watch, typical human nature.

You can track a second time zone on the 12 hr sub dial. In LA you start the chrono at 9 and it's now NYC time on your dial.

Great advice and comments. Plus a 16710 GMT Coke is my daily watch.

Nope. The GMT functions are much more useful. Also, if you got the BLNR at retail, I would not want to pay the big premium for the Daytona in the secondary market.

If you bought your Batgirl at MSRP you may be able to get a bit of a premium when you sell it. The Daytona is 23-24k now so your look at adding around 10k.

I’m guessing that you are not very likely to get one of these from your AD. So if the Daytona sings to you, consider the premium (2-3k?) the batgirl provides as a discount off of the market value on the Daytona.

I would straight swap my BLRO with a new 116500 and would perhaps be prepared to add £2k. But otherwise no.

116710BLNR was my first Rolex, and I love that watch. Nothing is easier to read, and I love the function when I travel. I just picked up the DaytonaC, and while I agree that it’s not nearly as legible.... I look down and think “damn, that’s a beautiful watch.” So I’m fine with the extra second to tell the time.

Keep the BLNR. Put the work in to your relationship with your AD, and wait for the DaytonaC at MSRP.

OP needs to clarify how much he needs to add in order for us to determine whether the deal is fair or not.

Also, if you alluding to too much then you might already have your answer like another member has already said.

However, only you can determine if it's a fit for you. If you are getting market value on your BLNR and the Daytona is priced at market value than it's fair. Anything +/- one direction will lean it towards the other.

Now now... that's a bit of fairy tale statement in this market. You are basically paying the MSRP difference when clearly that is impossible feet. A used BLRO + £2k for brand new Daytona? Minus the fact that this is secondary market transaction...

If you never had the Daytona but fancy it, why not. No research would tell you more than actually owning it for a day. I have both gmt and Daytona and found that Daytona is more comfortable but difficult to use to tell time. The GMT is better in that regard but case is too bulky and I don't like the max case look.
In other words, do it if you prefer Daytona over gmt in a general sense.

I have had my BLNR for 3 years. Got white Daytona last year. Both at retail. Blnr is definitely a more useable watch BUT the 115600 is such a beautiful watch. Two totally different watches. Cant go wrong with either

I like the Daytona but the no date is a deal breaker for me. Plus its hard to read.

As above, trade the BLNR and get a WG Pepsi with blue dial.

Good point. Which is why I haven’t made the trade, because it ain’t gonna be possible! But, my statement remains true!
