Verging on extortion, classy way to do business.

At some point Rolex must realize how much their brand as a whole is being tarnished by these ridiculous games - whether they care or not is an entirely different matter.

So, there's a Sub Date just sitting there?

Bravo! If this was after waiting on a wait list/significant wait (especially), but even if not, I would now go by in person and speak with the Owner/Store Mgr/Brand Mgr (whomever is this guy's boss) & let them know that they have now lost all of my future watch AND jewelry business -as you bundle your business, too.

Submariners are a dime a dozen. You will certainly get another soon if you do your part. I'm glad to hear that you passed on it. The majority of these game playing sales folks aren't even able to afford an inexpensive Rolex model themselves anyhow and act like they are doing you a favor. Classless behavior should never be validated. If you want something from someone, then they can control you. Again, good man for walking.

Rolex needs to take control of their product the way AP did. This is all getting out of hand.

It would be rather interesting to hear RUSA's take on what transpired here.

Was there any mention of this prior to you being put on the list? Regardless, I would've been shocked at the audacity.
I was absolutely shocked, there was no mention of that when I ordered the watch. this isn't my first rodeo. I passed out of straight principal.

So filthy and completely took all the fun out of it. In my opinion, the AD's encourage flipping with actions like this. Think about it. Especially if your wife doesn't need or want anything new.

Its principle. Buying anything along with a Sub date puts you at grey market new price without any of the stupid games. Call up David and Miami and have it the next morning without having to go in and kiss the ring. Ridiculously in my opinion.

That’s poor for, on the AD’s part for sure.

If you’re really jonesing for one, I’d go gray. The mark up isn’t all that bad IMO. Good luck

Hardly the jackpot although a great watch.

I've done it in the past but, this experience makes me want to leave the brand for good. Shame they are great watches (at retail) and work well.

Good move! These AD’s are losing steam. There are fewer and fewer people everyday who are so eager to get an Instagram trophy that they are willing to buy other junk or pay a premium. It’s a Sub....they have been making them for several decades, and hundreds of thousands of them exist. Just be patient, the whole thing is correcting and returning to normal.

Just got the call...

When things normalize a bit - I’m very curious how many ADs will have lost very good customers. I suspect quite a few. Not good business. I mean come on Roberto Coin goes from $500 earrings to $5k plus pieces...is it worth, perhaps that little and the potential loss of a customer. No.

This is about principle. Good for you to pass. Regardless of whether they realize the principle of it or not.

I think Subs and GMTs etc will becomes more readily available this year. A couple may become more elusive - Daytonas and maybe SkyDwellers - but hey - that was the usual case anyway - regardless whether or not people want to truly accept it. And that’s ok.

The majority of AD’s won’t lose too many ‘good customers’ I wouldn’t think. There will of course be exceptions, but most AD’s will have prioritised their ‘good customers’, mine certainly has.

Many people missing out or being asked to bundle now, will have previously bought from Greys when it was cheaper to do so...and that’s where they’ll go again when the bubble bursts (assuming it will).

Good for you on passing on principal. By the time you add jewelry and sales tax you're better off going grey!

Those are the types of ADs that Rolex need to drop. My SA/AD will never make me buy anything I'm unsure or didn't want.

True. Maybe I should have framed it as more along the lines of customers (growth) overall. Meaning this tactic is very short sighted.

Agree. The ‘good customers’ or VIPs (I hate that associated term) are already programmed in.
