I like both.
With oyster a head and its bracelet look as one solid piece, like an integrated bracelet.
With jubilee, its end-links are protruded over the lugs shapes and do not create a solid/integrated perception.

The jubilee is dressier, lighter and better ventilated and more comfortable in my view.

The watch doesn’t wear larger or smaller either way, however, the jubilee gives the illusion of a smaller watch because unlike the oyster, there is no additional length on the watch due to end links.

Literally, where the lug end finish, the jubilee bracelet does not extend any further.

I have owned both. Imo fluted and oyster is the perfect modern combo. Can be dressed up or down. I have only had the fluted bezel on both. I feel the jubilee wears smaller. I like the easy link but the clasp leaves something to be desired. I love the oyster look as it’s more modern and masculine imo but it scratches very easily. The jubilee is great at hiding wear. It won’t show any to be honest. It’s magic.

People say the oyster and jubilee wear the same but imo the jubilee wears smaller and makes the watch lighter. I’ll post a pic to illustrate. Found it on TRF.


Smooth on jubilee and fluted with oyster are a very nice versatile combo. But if I were you I would buy the jubilee first and get an oyster later. The oyster seems to be easier to obtain on the secondary market if your AD can’t/wont Order you one. They used to but not sure if the rules changed. They are interchangeable on the DJ41. It will give you 2 different looks.

Honestly as much as I like my DJ41 on jubilee i feel its a little too dressy. And on my 7.5 inch wrist wears a little smaller with the jubilee. I guess it’s because the watch is so thin and the jubilee hugs the wrist really well. So this combo is harder to dress down. The oyster with fluted will be my daily moving forward.


If you have the money get the fluted. You won’t regret it. If on a budget I would get the smooth with jubilee.


On second thought get the smooth on jubilee and buy the oyster bracelet for cheaper then the fluted bezel. That’s a lot of bang for the buck imo.

I think I might agree if it was a true 41mm but its closer to 39mm so a Jubilee works fine, esp with a smooth bezel, need either fluted or jubilee on a DJ imho.

I have an DJ II on Oyster and I am strongly considering flipping it for a DJ 41 on Jubilee.

Both look great but the jubilee is really one of the things that defines the classic DJ look. If going 2-tone it also hides the inevitable scratches the PCL’s on the oyster pick up, especially if it’s a daily piece.

I have a DJ41 smooth with oyster. I sourced a jubilee bracelet from my local AD for $1550 usd. It's a five minute job to swap the bracelet out.

Sometime I like the jubilee better, sometimes the oyster. Both are great, and it's nice to have the option to switch. Like two watches in one.

I have the 36MM Datejust and love it. I have the 2 tone (Stainless/18K Yellow Gold). I chose the Jubilee bracelet because I did not like the look of the Oyster with a two-tone finish. I think the Oyster looks great with the Stainless or Stainless/White gold. To me the links in the Jubilee look better in Yellow gold against the stainless "side-walls". But choose what catches your eye.

I've had both. I had a DJII smooth bezel on the oyster and I now have a DJ41 fluted bezel on the jubilee. Although I like jubilee way better, I think oyster suits smooth bezel better.

Two additional opinions:

1.) Fluted/Oyster looks smashing.

2.) Smooth with Romans in blue is a sight to behold, as is depicted in the photo above of that well enjoyed watch.
