I'm glad parasite won. Ever since I watched it, I was rooting for it to win best foreign film. I was pleasantly surprised it won best film too.

Parasite was considered to the best film
Period amongst many people who watch films for a living and have to put pen to paper and actually think about why a movie is good. Also, it was considered to be the best picture amongst many cinephiles, not your everyday typical filmgoer.

You mentioned 1917. An above average movie IMO but not nearly as good or original as Parasite.
