Stop bickering kids.

Everybody should know that I, too, am a decades long Sub owner.

To be correct, there are really only two... The Submariner, and the Submariner Date

Just because sellers need to describe what you are looking at, for the less than enlightened, does not change that fact. There are polite ways to discuss this, aren't there?

None of this should be confused with the GMT no Date, which does have a date.

Looks like Chris has a Couple of Subs. One in the picture where he is wearing the Star Trek hat looks like an early Sub with bracelet stretch, the other looks like a modern Sub.

Is that a No Date 114060 on Chris Pine’s wrist?

Thanks, I actually hadn’t seen this from resellers.

My local AD who sold me my SUBMARINER 114060LN asked me if I was interested in a Sub No Date when I dropped by to pick up something else.

So for me from then on it was a No Date, because that’s what the official Rolex AD calls it.

Now that I’ve learned it doesn’t exist, I guess I need to edit my signature

The ignorance of AD sales staff is a whole different topic.

I agree i think it's a 5 digit because of the end-links and lugs. No date nickname has been around forever and is fitting. While Submariner gets confusing because both date and non-date versions are technically Submariners. If we must it's actually the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner and Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date. Very common and has been for years to all simply be referred to as a Submariner regardless because they are all the same Submariner family of watches. Just like they're all Oyster Perpetuals as well. Regardless, I prefer your way to reference in 114060 or 14060/m. Good observation on the 5 digit

Are those PCLs? Always wondered what PCLs would look like on a stainless Sub.

What is wrong with this topic that we get threaten to be banded for here?
I like watching movies with Chris Pine and he is wearing my Rolex.
We are just like all of you and we are having fun, then to get threaten by one of you moderators. Is it because the topic does not interest you? Are you going to band the other moderator for commenting?
i just never have liked being threaten by anyone that thinks they have the power.
Sorry...but you are wrong.

TRF is where I go if I want that toxic kind of entertainment. Looks like a 116610 but modified to be a 114060 NO DATE SUBMARINER MINUS DATE NO CYCLOPS

Some seem to hate pcls but I love them. I would definitely wear a Submariner like this as standard. Looks awesome.

Relax. The threat (IMHO) was not about the topic or the OP. The moderator threat was in regards to the spin off about the naming convention and the subsequent lemonade contest that followed. Of which I participated in. Carry on.

You really think after decades of Rolex I don't know what 114060 is? This watch is called the SUBMARINER. No Date doesn't exist.
I find it hilarious when people say this. The term "no date" gets used because it says what watch we're talking about. It refers to exactly one watch, at one price point in one colorway, and we all know what it is. Who cares that it's not a model name? It's a descriptively useful and relevant term.

I think it's interesting to see it on a celeb's wrist, because an nd isn't something you buy by accident -- you generally have to go out of your way to avoid that date, since it's not the "standard" sub configuration. It could be just personal preference, of course, but I suspect it often points to someone who's into watches. As a group, we seem to like the date a lot less than the "average" watch owner.

Yup. Cuts the confusion and nails the watch.

Besides not every knows or cares to memorize every single model number.

I know, blasphemy on a Rolex site.

Don’t worry about it.
Officially it’s submariner and submariner date (114060 and 116610)

However in the trade, and within enthusiast circles, they’re commonly referred to as sub date and sub no date, and that’s the descriptions I personally choose to use.

I’m not bothered either way and if someone asked me about a submariner, I’d automatically ask “date or no date?”.

Either way, no big drama, some people just like an arguement

The question is "when did everything get reversed?".

Nobody calls the 5513 a "no date", or a 5508 or 5512, or any other Sub. Why do people feel the need to add no date to the end of 14060 - they are all Subs, just like the 5513. Nobody should be confused.

The last couple of years, suddenly, the nomenclature has reversed. People are now calling the Sub a Sub no date, and the Sub Date a Sub. Exactly backwards from Rolex model names and introductions 50+ years ago.

New enthusiasts are bastardizing one of the greatest watches made, and slowly changing it's historic name to the dust bins and replacing it with the moniker "no date"

That's the trigger for true Sub fans. "Look, he's wearing a No Date 114060." No, he's not, he's wearing a Sub 114060, there is no confusion here.

Marvel or DC should create a superhero called “No Date”. Problem solved.
