Called the sales person at the AD, told what i'd found - she insisted they just didn't deal with web prices. I responded well, you may not, but i have to notice that i'm paying considerably more than i'd have to on Amazon, and amazon is a pretty secure market, ie no scams, if not as described etc, so please talk to your svc manager

THey came back at $4000 + sales tax and i accepted the new offer
True, you can find better prices but many times at the risk of a Tudor warranty vs the sellers warranty. But you put those prices to good use to snag a better deal.

No, I didn’t. But it did help me get a Rolex Pepsi @ MSRP.

i suspect i wasn't the only customer to use that as a tool for a better price. And i suspect Tudor will be squashing the distributors selling to the grey market vendors as one of the questions that seemed prominent on the amazon listings was if the serial number was not obliterated, which will give Tudor a strong clue as to who sold them the watches.

DOn't get me wrong, I wouldn't have bought from the grey market vendors, but they did serve a useful purpose. I suspect if we knew what the real price to the AD was, our jaws would drop. My first job out of college was working for Graybar Electric in 1974, and i flipped out when i learned their cost on a twin pack of incandescent lightbulbs (didn't matter if they were 60 watt, 100 watt etc), was $0.10 a pack - back then they sold retail for $1.98 a pack.

I suspect, and it's only a suspicion, that the AD's cost is not that far north of $2000 USD on the Pelagos
