Couldn't agree more with Z. And the proper term is refinished - not re-cut.

you guys, honestly. Sitting on a pile of watches. Someone comes along and you get the claws out. I was saying you should moderate your feedback not crack your knuckles and go all out on someone.

I for one would be happy to get feedback on a watch by some as knowledgable as JP.
At least you know exactly what you have. Most members here including myself are not capable of judging a watch correctly.

Well said. This sums up the spirit of the forum. There's only one poster being negative here.

Dear friends, I really appreciate all the inputs, comments and encouragement from all parties.
From this, I am just disappointed that someone I trusted will actually try to pass off these accessories/parts as original to the watch. Good to know the truth even if it hurts. Thanks to all for pointing out. And Buggs, thanks for the encouragement as well. I am enjoying the watch as it is. Staying put on my wrist as often as possible. :) Now, a few photos under the sun so that everyone can enjoy and appreciate the watch as it is. Cheers guys!!! Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk |

I went looking for a birth year sub, but found out Rolex hadn’t designed one. About 10 years down the road.

OP, dont be put down. it is possible that the seller was not aware of the replaced parts. there are may purists here that would prefer an all original / matching collection. Just take it as knowledge and free lessons. You have the cetificate (that's the important part) and its not like the parts are fake or the watch is. There are far worse watches out there.
Enjoy wearing it. |

Seller may not have knowingly misled you. Plus the watch is just amazing.

Finally scored a birth year red sub

If the OP was told the date wheel, crown and accessories were original to the watch I would be turned off regardless if the dial looks good, or the warranty paper is authentic. It sounds like he paid a premium with the assumption everything was original. I personally would contact the seller. Thank you John for pointing this out.

OP Beautiful watch. Difficult to find the perfect faultless example everyone expects.
I for one appreciate the honest opinions of the real experts on the forum. Without them this would be less of place to visit. I learn from each of these types of threads. And if I’m fortunate to one day find my vintage grail I will post it fully expecting and hoping for every detailed to be scrutinized. Of which I have no doubt there will be something a miss since these guys don’t miss a trick. But it will be the only way us nonexperts will ever truly know what we bought and allows us the opportunity to seek remedy if need be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great looking watch overall.
Over time, if it bugs you (and it probably won’t), you can locate some of the non-originals bits and replace them. Congrats and wear it well. |
