You're only supposed to be able to end one auction early per year and receive forgiveness. At more than once per year doing this, the seller is responsible for paying the final value fee based on the max bid for the item at the time the auction was pulled.
Interesting, I didn’t know that. Is this a new rule or has it been in place for awhile now?

And all you have to do is have someone else (or a few people) raise the price continually - if it got too close to the edge. There are ALL kinds of ways people get around this. Which is why I don’t use eBay.

I’d say seller is smart. You suddenly get the interest of many at a time when most of us are in standby. I bet it’s gonna sell at a better price than the ones on WatchRecon . And this one is not a sign of what’s to come :)

MSRP 9700? Currently at 12,500 for a used piece. With time left on the auction.

Thinking that is pretty good.

Also factor in BNIB from an AD means adding tax, so there is that.

It's up to 12,500 now with 16 hours left. Things haven't changed much.

Ebay now charges sales tax to almost every state. From what I've heard, many buyers don't realize this and don't follow through with payment when presented with the total.

If it ends at US$15.4k
That’s AU$25225
If bought at an AU AD for AU$13500
That’s a savvy profit!

eBay auctions are notoriously difficult from a seller's perspective. More often than not, I see auctions re-listed as the original winner doesn't pay and just disappears. eBay also always takes the buyer's side in a dispute as well.

A sign of things to come?

One watch with literally millions of potential buyers in a no reserve auction. It should fetch a high price. I am guessing 15.6 after the last minute feeding frenzy.

Well, final bid finished up at $14,700. Certainly an indicator that prices are coming down, albeit slowly.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. A sale with a starting price of 8k no reserve - almost half its market value - is a clear sign of the times we're living.

Sadly it will get worse before it gets better and I have no doubt we will get through this.

Stay strong, be safe everyone.

Watch sells for $14,700. Ebay takes $750 plus paypal fees then there are shipping and insurance costs. Seller clears somewhere around $13,850.

Buyer has to pay sales tax on his $14,700. Call it 7% which is just about $1,000 so the watch cost him $15,700 assuming he pays.......

14.7. I was off. I felt the market was a bit stronger but apparently not. I used a final value calculator on the interwebs.

The buyer is paying $14.7+taxes. Both buyer and seller got hosed.
