5711 because I already have Rolex and no PP. DD in plat will be too flashy for me. As someone else said. I’d take platona > 5711 as somehow it still has a discreteness while also being a heavy hitter

I must be missing something, I thought the pt day date is over twice the price of the 5711/1A?

5711 at grey is absurd, even if it drops to 40k.
Anything at 40k MSRP is a better option, start from a Dd and downgrade to your preference, dont waste your money on a 5711 itch that will fade pretty quick. |

The comparison is a 5711/1A at £23k or a pt DD at £50k. Or much better to look used for the DD due to the poor value retention. The obvious answer is of course get the 5711 new , less than half the price and high horology or be sensible and buy the pt DD used. Both are great options. |

AD’s aren’t willing to talk about steel Pateks. If I know I will be allocated one in 5 years time I would delightedly wait. Its BS for sure from the AD end (rightfully so given the noise and smoke surrounding these models from flippers). With Rolex however, I found that ADs are much more welcoming relative to Patek ADs, I even managed to get several SS models either immediately or with minimum wait just because we have pretty good chats. Never was I as successful with Patek ADs though I tried pretty hard.. |

To me the 5711 and DD in Platinum are very different. I would take the DD any day over the very flimsy 5711.

If you really believe that then your decision is easy in this choice. I know you are wrong so my choice is equally easy.

Never thought about that, thanks.
Its quite hard to find someone willing to take 30k for a time only watch. Its really silly if you think about it. Therefore any “luxury experience” is practically lost at this stage. So the normal flow of events is people turning more and more to indies and other established brands |

Honestly I think the 5711. It’s more versatile and a watch that can be worn up or down. The DD is dress watch, if that fits your collection then it’s a no brainer.
At MSRP the DD is more expensive. Can you get a 5711 at MSRP is the question we should be asking? You can buy a DD + SS for the staggering grey price of 5711. |
