I was initially considering purchasing another 40mm Rolex and considered getting a 116610; however, I went with the SD43 for the same reasons you’re considering and I do not regret it. It doesn’t wear too much larger than the 40 but as someone above mentioned, the wrist presence is stunning IMO. I can’t stop looking down at that red text and when the sunlight hits the dial it has this amazing matte black appearance. It’s an amazing piece of work and it’s my daily watch at this point. Good luck!

I thought for sure I would pick it up. I liked the red text, the bigger size, and less common aspect of it. In the end, I think the Sub fits me much better despite the smaller diameter.
SD43 does indeed feel bigger on the wrist than the SubC, but super watch all the same!

Update!

AD came though today after a 2 month wait and I pulled the trigger on the SD43. Couldn’t be happier. This watch just has the “it” factor I was looking for. Thanks for the advice everyone!

I was originally after a Sub, but after joining TRF it seemed the advice was (due to having a 9 inch wrist) to go for the SD43, so put that out to AD's as my preference, long story but got offered a 116613LB (Bluesy) tried it on and thought it looked great, no issue with it being 40 mm at all.

Go with SD43. Love mine. 7.25" wrist and looks, feels and wears great. It's a beauty.

I think you will love the SD43 with that wrist size so go for it.

I have a 7.25 wrist and I love my SD43 which I’ve had since January. The case back was a little odd at first, but after a few weeks, I didn’t notice it. The thick case back seams to keep the crown from digging in when I flex my hand backwards.

My wife gave me a BB58 Blue for our anniversary and after wearing the SD43, it looks like a child’s watch and the crown often digs into my skin due to the lower profile.

Good luck on the hunt.

After you get used to your SD43, try on big brother DSSD. It’s a beautiful watch as well. I have both and love them equally but for different reasons.

I went from a 126710 BLNR to a 126600 with no regrets (on a barely 7” wrist).

This is what you do ....your wrists are very close to my size .

Keep the 116660LN .DO NOT sell it .
Keep the BLNR.
Ad the SD43.Dont think twice.
Trade the 40mm for a 42mm Polar .Will be a HUGE difference on your wrist .Perfect.

This is more medium to long term thinking .

I love how the SD43 has a modern and vintage look at the same time. Sometimes the lume dots look creamy and the matte black makes legibility better imo.

I owned an SD43 for 2 days, couldn't wear it any longer as I've never known such an uncomfortable watch, protruding small caseback makes the watch wobble on the wrist no matter how tight you wear it and yes I did remove the dive extension, it's a major design fault in my opinion.
I have owned Dssd and while top heavy it doesn't have the SD43 case back issue so was fine to wear, my advice to anyone considering buying an SD43 is make sure you've tried one on correctly sized for your wrist before purchasing!

I don’t have that issue. I have seen those who do. The case back sits really tall. Mine sinks in my wrist and I don’t even really notice it’s there to be honest. My sub feels like I’m wearing nothing. The heft of the SD43 is perfect imo if you can get that perfect fit.

Congratulations OP. I have multiple watches but I Think the SD43 could really be a one and done as long as you don’t have to suite up everyday. I love the subs but I wish the bracelets were 21mm not 20mm. The wrist presence and 22mm bracelets are perfect imo.

The SD43 have that "extra" that made it perfect!!!!! I add recently a black DSSD and have to say that is very comfy too. Enjoy your treasure!

Congratulations OP. The SD looks great. As others have said the Sea Dweller lineup has sort of an 'it factor" that the Subs lack. Hard to put into words but the SD just feels like a special watch. Wear in good health!
