Me, I usually buy watches to mark milestones etc and they've slowed down. Also I'm getting a bit of fatigue speaking to rolex ADs...

This has been my new strategy as well. 6 watches seems like the right number for me. When I recently made an impromptu purchase, I took stock of what I had and made the tough decision to sell off one of my existing pieces to make room. I don’t even have the new addition yet and it already feels like the right move so I’m able to enjoy and wear those I keep.

I want them all. But I like to wear my watches and make memories with them, too. Having a bunch sitting in a safe doesn’t bring me joy. So I had to settle on a number and I’m trying my best to stick with the plan. We will see how long I can hold out. ;-)

I just keep adding more. I'm not healthy and I have a very bad addiction. My support groups have not worked as they only enable me to buy more. I have finally realized that if I spent every last dime I had on watches and had to live in a tent in the forest I would still be happy as long as I had my watches.

I’m thinking of cutting down the current collection of 6 to maybe 2 or 3. I’ve got watches that I rarely wear and it just seems like a waste of money to have them sitting idle.

I don’t think I’m going to buy an expensive watch any time soon.

I’m focusing on other things for the time being, but damn, this forum makes it hard sometimes

I'm satisfied with my mechanical watch collection and I have no plans to add any watches
in the foreseeable future. I collect other things, as well, and I am currently working on those collections.

Not quite there yet. I have my eye on a watch. Have done my research, have tried it on at Tourneau, done more research. Will likely put a request for it in July. Meantime, another watch that I bought on impulse years ago will be outgoing shortly.

Tried a lot of different brands over the past few years just to find out what I really love. Had a 'collection' of 7 watches at one point, but realized then that it was unnecessary.

Down to just my Hulk and Pam 233. Quite happy with what I have at the moment. Still love learning about watches and looking forward to new releases, but don't think I'll purchase anymore.

For me it depends on what the new Submariner brings.
I'd like something with a pop of colour, so a Hulk (or it's replacement), or a new bezel colour, would get my money. Other than, I'm not looking to expand.

Since you can only wear one watch at a time, I’m a 2 watch guy lol. Wore the first one daily for almost 7 years and now that I have my grail that I bought for my 50th, that’s my new daily. It feels weird having something of value both personally and financially just sitting around not being worn. That’s just me, I guess I’m a one watch guy but I’m never getting rid of anything. Weird I know but that’s me...

Another two watch keeper combo meal-deal advocate here. Always on the lookout but things gave gotten a bit pricy lately :( Looking at other brands but none seem to stick. My two look great in a two slot box I think.

I'm content with what I've got so no desire to add any more.

I'd never knock back the opportunity if my grail comes along at MSRP. My AD knows what I want. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't it is what it is.

No drama. No stress. No involvement in the hyperbole for me. Just an amused and philosophical bystander watching from sidelines.......

I’m at 5 right now and that feels like 1 or 2 too many.

I’m looking to consolidate and move toward quality Vs. quantity.

So never say never to quote the Bond title. But the number in my collection is and will be steady. I have two in regular rotation and two alternates. I had 7 at one point and it’s like the watch only gets a few weeks of wrist time each year and that’s if the rotation is equal. I remember having my iwc portuguese and a chopard and had them a few years and only wore them once in a while and recall the jeweler telling me it would be like 800 bucks to service. (I was still a student at that time so it was a gut punch lol). And that’s when I realized it’s silly to put out that kind of dough for watches sitting around. Long story short, if I add a new watch, one has so go. So my model is no net gain in the number of watches for me.

Right now, I’m content. I have one steel piece that I can wear in any situation and I have a two tone to change / dress things up.

It’s also really easier to rotate between just two watches and always keep them running.

Two, ten, twenty, what does it matter if you are having fun and enjoying your watches. I read the posts that say we have a sickness or it is too much. OK, maybe they are right but it all comes down to what I like and what I want and can afford. I use to worry about wrist time and value in the collection that was not being utilized but now I just roll with it. If I don't wear a watch for months but still like it then I have no issue. If the watch falls out of grace or I need the value for a sale or trade for something I want more, so be it. This is a hobby and I have fun with it, no stress and I do not over analyze it for deeper meaning. Do what you enjoy, soon enough we will not be able.

I only have the one, a DSSD. I had planned on a White Dial Skydweller, but the whole inaccessibility thing has made me rethink the brand. If I could walk in to a dealer and buy a White dial SS Skydweller and a Pepsi SS GMT on Jubilee, then I would be done, but because I can't do that, I think I am done anyway. I do not care to pay over MSRP for grey. Lately I have started to (re)look at Omega and Breitling more closely. Can't be bothered with the whole artificiality of the Rolex SS scarcity thing.

My interest in the hobby, and love for watches is still there, as I love looking at, and enjoy wearing my watches every day. I’ve pretty much met my goal of trying every brand, metal, size, etc...that I’ve had an interest in.
So at this point, I’m not sure what I’d call it, but slowing down on the buying/trading/selling, etc....was happening anyway.
I briefly told the story here on TRF, but in a nutshell....My thinking/attitude/enjoyment were violated, and now my attitude and enthusiasm has changed dramatically.
I’ve basically was a PM fan and wore that most often....now 3 SS pieces and I’M GOOD!
The short of it.....was doing a high end deal, with a dealer (yes, a well known, not my first rodeo) for a couple PM Rolex to be traded. Both identities were stolen mid transaction (yes they even made perpetrating personal phone calls) and in a very short timeframe..I’m out of a significant amount of $$$ worth of watches.
Yes, the proper investigation is underway, yes, all my bases are covered, and I’ve done everything I can do at this point.
So...I’ve actually acquired 2 SS pieces since then and I’ve sworn off PM for now and am just enjoying 3 SS pieces at the moment. Not sure if I’ll ever be in the hobby as passionately as I once was...very sour taste in my mouth right now.
Spent a lot less time here recently as well (maybe twice a day vs 8-10 )
Enjoy the journey all

its due to the overwhelming demand that causes a premium over the popular pieces, and demand cant be manipulated, certainly not artificial

you could look at less popular ones if paying premium is not your thing.
