Good gesture. Always look after the people around you because if you don’t,
In my experience, they will F you over.

Restaurant business is not easy. My family was in it for decades. Respect to you for showing such devotion to your longtime employees and good luck the rest of the year hopefully the worst is behind us for the restaurant/hospitality industry.

Well done Andreas, that's a class move and very well done for staying alive during these times, I was just updating a thread about a fave restaurant of mine, the 2 star Ledbury in London which sadly has announced it is to be shutting down, sad times.

Great story, and a very fine gesture.
Best wishes for further success with your restaurant and the friendship with your chefs.
Very nice pic of the three of you and the watches.

But anyway, I just wanted to share a bit.

As many of you know I'm in the restaurant business.

Back in 2017 my head chef had been onboard for 10 years. I wanted to celebrate this and the great work he had put in, and he really is a huge part of our (my) success. Much more so than his salary. Long story short I bought him a No-Date Sub. He still wears his Sub daily, and truly treasures it. I'm glad, as he and I have become lifetime friends, and I trust this man with my life.

My head chef's childhood friend came onboard a few years later, and he is equally solid in every way. Awesome personality with a great sense of humour (he should really be doing stand-up!) and a soldier in the kitchen.

These two gentlemen are my Chef and Sous-Chef. Superb blokes in every way.

Today was my Sous-Chefs 10 year anniversary, and we somewhat agreed earlier that the watch for him was an Explorer 2, black dial.

I've never been happier to buy a Rolex for someone else than today! The virus is pretty much over, my restaurant is open again and doing great! We're working hard with some restrictions still, but we are (for the moment at least) doing better than before the restrictions.

Long story... But I just wanted to share some of the joy with getting a real hard-working man his Rolex.

Group shot below of Jani's 14060 (Chef) My 1680 Red Sub and Sami's 16570 (Sous-chef).

that's awesome. great boss !!

Fantastic way to show your people that they mean something to you. I work for a large corporation and have for the last 27 years. They used to appreciate their people but in the last 10 years or so, we have been treated more as liabilities than assets. It's good to see that there is appreciation on the side of management somewhere.

I was totally thinking of doing the same for one of my employees on our 20th year together, but ended up just giving her a monetary bonus. A rolex seems so much more special.

They had the option to choose cash. I'm glad with their choices.

I know how it feels when you buy something so special to a special person. I enjoy that moment more than when I buy something for myself.

That is really a great gesture you made. Much respect to you.
It is very hard to find and especially keep good people around.

I am a loyal employee but if the company I work for did anything like that I would never ever leave.
