If you can get a Seiko SLA37 at retail good luck,, and go for it, because they are already trading for at premium. Problem is they just got released and they are limited to 1000 pieces, so you want to buy before prieces reach a peak.

Rolex or Seiko

I have both Rolex watches and high end Seiko and Grand Seiko.

I think it is a toss up but you are comparing a plain jane Rolex to a limited edition Seiko diver. They are very different watches.

Because the Seiko is LE it is indeed high priced. I think for that money there are better choices in Seiko and probably in Rolex as well but only you can decide which one better fits your needs and taste. I would look at some Grand Seiko choices before deciding.

If you have 10 rolex and 10 seiko already, id go for the SLA037 provided you dont have a SLA017 yet.

What’s the rush? I have the OP 39mm. It’s a beautiful egg shell matte white dial.
I Also love Seiko. I personally think the fit and finish on a Grand Seiko, is better than a Rolex.

Logic says to buy the cheapest one first, before going through the hassle and expenses of the Op -if you cannot choose.

Which do you want more? Both or neither if you can't choose.

I believe your choice of the Seiko is the better one. Nothing wrong with the OP39 and it is a good looking watch but nothing special. The SLA037J1 is a special limited edition watch that I believe to be superior in design, movement, wear and value. Go look at the SLA017 and see what it cost new and see where it is now pre-owned. I am a huge Rolex fan and own 10 of the watches but Seiko/Grand Seiko is a fun alternative and many times it is my primary watch.

A Seiko is a Seiko and a Rolex is a Rolex. Nothing wrong with Seiko they make good quality reliable watches at an affordable price, I have a couple myself, but to me the choice is obvious. However its your watch so you decide.

The 17 is the true 62MAS reissue.
