If you have no purchase history with this Rolex AD, perhaps is telling of demand in the market right now.

However, a bottle of wine will suffice. Ask her what kind of wine she prefers and get her a decent bottle. That is really all that is needed. Remember you line her pocket with money.

I sent an email and talked with the other owner (male) on the phone. Expressed my interest and got the call. Was amazing. Couldn’t put down my deposit fast enough. They will get all of my future business for sure. I had to ask them to repeat the watch as I already own the 116610 LN. She repeated the number and it was green.

I have a son being born at the end of the month and stated I would love to have it for that special occasion. She stated she was thinking about me. My email must have struck a chord with this particular AD. It’s a family owned business so I think that helped. Super excited and want to show some appreciation without going over the top.

New AD came through in the clutch so now I want to give a thoughtful thank you gift.

Why do you say this? I have mainly bought from the grey market and have never hid that fact. I bought 4 rolexes from DavidSW. 3 from Chris o neill and my SD43 from Takuya. I buy from greys because the ADs don’t have what I’m looking for. Got lucky and this one does so I’m hoping to keep this train rolling. ;)

Lol it’s a watch. Those are gifts for the wife not sales associate. I want to buy something that is a little thank you as a kind gesture. Not ask her on a date lol.

I was thinking that. I have had other ADs call me and offer me things that I did not ask for. Like a two tone sub or various DJ models. So when I got this call I was guessing it would be more of the same. Was super surprised. I almost didn’t pick up because I didn’t recognize the number and I was in the middle of getting my wife’s Mercedes checked out for a new windshield.

That said being offered a HULK I think was more lucky then the market. But I have no plans of selling. The other thing is that it’s in a small affluent area that relies on tourism. With the whole Covid-19 thing I think it put some ADs in a tough spot. They have very strict restrictions and I think a lot of the town is shuttering in place as we are looking at another statewide shutdown.

If you are willing to buy Dom Perignon level champagne as a gift, I would suggest getting Krug Grand Cuvee instead. DP is a vintage champagne that is designed to be aged for a long time to be at its best, so it can be overly acidic and not that impressive when young. The Grand Cuvee is made to be drunk on release and is an amazing champagne. DP is also amazing but will show its best in a couple of decades depending on vintage. They cost around the same in Australia.

Really nice gesture regardless and one that I am sure will help the relationship. Enjoy your watch!

Hard to believe someone with no purchase history would get a Hulk.

Gift her/them what you think is appropriate. There is no point in being contrived about it.

There is a posh confectionery store near my AD who do gift baskets that are reassuringly expensive. I expect my AD gets a few. I always get them something when they get us something.

It's the thought and the gesture that count. And it's not compulsory.

You could always give her a nice, brand new 116610LV. I'll bet she'll appreciate that!

Congratulations on the Hulk. They seem to be incoming thick and fast at the moment. Could be that stock is being cleared out, but that doesn't make any difference. The Hulk is a stunner. Paying MSRP is a nice bonus.

Are we celebrating that you actually have the LV on your wrist right now or that AD called to take your deposit and you will get one at some point?

I’m picking it up Monday. Was my choice since they will only allow me to pick it up in person and it’s a good little drive. About 3.5-4 hours. Watch is in their hands. Could have picked it up Friday or Saturday.

A gift is totally acceptable and a nice display of appreciation. Either flowers or a nice bottle would be very nice. Who knows, maybe it lifts up her day. Karma points!

If the Pappy is too much, how about a fine Champaign? Both make a statement and get you remembered. The good thing about the Pappy Van Winkle is it's like currency. If the AD doesn't open it they can re-gift it. If they ever need to court a distributor or potential whale of a client, a bottle of Pappy is guaranteed to impress. The Roderer Crystal is just a real fine bottle of champaign, and only costs about $200. They have a Rosé champaign as well and the ladies seem to love that.

Thank you. The owner of the AD called me personally so I feel the pressure to make sure it’s a nicer gift. She alone can decide if this was a one time deal or if I can get other future watches.

If it was a regular sales associate I would have just bought them a box of Godiva or a nice scotch and called it a day. I woken say something nice in the $100-$200 area would be a nice gesture on my part.

While I don’t think any gift is necessary other than perhaps your verbal word to shop there again, I think anything will do (flowers, fruit basket) as long as addressed to the SA, manager/owner and staff ... I don’t think an over-the-tip thank you is any better than a modest one

Maybe I am out of touch with everything...but didn't you just spend thousands with that store/SA? I think a better gesture is referring buyers and doing continued business with the store.

I’m with you 100 percent. In today’s market it’s hard to get a hulk from a AD with no sales history or so I’m told. Was told many times it was impossible. So I would like to let the owner/SA I appreciate their gesture. They could have sold it to another person very easily I’m sure.

Sorry, for selling me a sub. No gift. The salesperson gets a commission and the store a 20-30% markup on a very expensive watch. My tip is I’ll come back and buy again. I got my first of several Rolex in the 90’s when you walked in and bought what you wanted. I don’t play games and feed into the AD BS. Sorry.

What a topsy-turvy world we live in when we feel fortunate that a company has allowed us the privilege of shelling out thousands of dollars for a watch, and then we feel we have to buy them a gift in return.

One of the greatest marketing jobs in history. Nicely done, Rolex.

I think it’s a nice idea to show your appreciation to anyone you appreciate. Whether it be words, gifts, tips etc. So I totally agree with you. But only you yourself can decide what that gesture should be. Let us know what you decide. I’m sure she will be appreciative.

For better or worse, I think that building a relationship with an AD is a nice gesture, and will definitely be appreciated. Will it guarantee future opportunities to purchase Rolex grails? Who knows?

The sales associates who have helped me find a couple of high-end cars have been great to work with, and they've made a good commission on every one I've bought. Yet, I still bring chocolates or wine by on an occasional basis. No harm in doing so in this situation- it makes someone's day, and it's still cheaper than going grey for a Rolex.

YMMV

You're doing the right thing.
It has nothing to do with how much the watch cost but the fact that somebody went out of their way to help you.
Acknowledging that is absolutely the right thing to do.
For that reason as well I don't think the price of the gift is as important as the gesture and kindness you put into it.
I would definitely start with flowers though.
