That is strange - I assumed when I saw it that Shanghai was just one of those places with a half-hour offset from UTC/GMT (like India, Afghanistan, etc.) But no, Shanghai seems to be at UTC+8 (12 or 13 hours ahead of NYC, depending on daylight savings). It looks like they even synced the seconds, so it’s odd - Did they basically split the difference to set it at 5.5 ahead of Monaco?
