That's a great pair but neither would suit me. Both are too large for my taste and wrist. The first rule of watch collecting is collect what suits you (imho). The second rule is follow your own course. For me I've only interest in watches that are well waterproof as well so the Speedy is disqualified for a second reason (although it is a truly iconic one). Enjoy your pair; they're perfect for you!!!

I might be biased since I own them both, but for me nothing beats a lumed 369 Explorer & Hesalite Speedy combo!

Great minds think alike :). IMHO the perfect diving watch and the perfect chronograph. Simple, functional...beautiful (and no date window to ruin the symmetry)

Great post!

If the word “perfect” is mentioned, the 16710 comes to mind!
To me those two are the perfect duo!

As far as being the brand iconic watches I would agree the fluted DateJust or DayDate are more iconic than the Submariner in the case of Rolex. When it comes to ownership I would choose the Sub and day. Just my preference.
The Speedmaster (the three sub-dial version not the two dial version which I unfortunately purchased) is definitely the correct choice for Omega.

I have a Submariner and the Speedmaster Pro. I always thought a JLC Reverso would be the perfect watch to complement them.

However, I just don't need a pure dress watch. I'd only wear it about once a month. I think a Datejust is a better fit for my lifestyle.

Actually, you can wear a pure dress watch any time. For casual wear, the dress watch is as flexible as it gets.

I never wear anything more fancy than a t-shirt and jeans and I wear dress watches all the time, often vintage.

So I had your 2 and the JLC master control date. Loved it, but hardly ever wore it. I agree datejust would get more wear. I am also considering adding a Nomos, simple white dial/black strap, under 2k.

Based on what y'all are saying, I'm for the first time thinking this duo is iconic.

Hard to beat the duo posted by the OP (nice taste by the way),

But, I would have to agree with this.... A Datejust and a Day Date maybe the duo.
