I own the Willard reissue from last year, SLA033 and both the 151 and the 153 re reissue. Taking all things into account, I like the new models better than the 033 at the moment. The case size is very nice, large enough but not too large. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist and it sits perfect. The other thing is the cost and it can not be set aside. The SLA033 was over 4k and I have been able to get the 151 and the 153 and the SPB143, 147 and the 149 for about what I have in the SLA033. I will not sell the 033 but it is on the bench right now. I can recommend either the 151 or 153 without reservation.

Interesting, dimensionally how does the SLA033 compare to the SPB151J1?
The price differential is huge but the watches look very similar.

C’mon Pongster, don’t be so humble. Drop a pic of your collection. Trust me, the group wants to see it. It will blow their minds...

The size difference is about 2 mm and the strap on the 033 is 19 as the straps for the 151 are 20 mm. Both are nice but if cost was a concern the 151 knocks it down all day. With a little over a years wear on the SLA033 I would have still bought it but it might have been a safe queen and the 151 the daily. Here is a picture side by side. Is it worth an extra 3k? Only the buyer can say.

I do. The SPB149 looks and somewhat wears the same as the SLA037. The difference is in the details. Case finishing and any historical links and it is a SLA which is a cool line of models to me. I passed on the SLA017 when my AD had one upon release but I was not as into Seiko's then as I am now. I have been looking for one but now that the SLA143 is in my collection I have stopped looking and will not spend the money to buy one. Funny how that works for some models but not for others. In the end I could be completely satisfied with the SPB143, 147, 149, 151 and the 153. And in the future that maybe what happens. Now I am waiting on the SLA039 and the SLA041. So much for saving money.

William,
Your green Prospex Willard bezel looks aligned. Is the black one as well? I just received my black Willard and the bezel is off. First Seiko to have this. |

Both bezels on my SPB151, 153 line up. I do have some that do not in the collection and as long as it is not off a lot I just roll on. Anyone that would like to post pictures please do. I always enjoy see what my fellow members own.

Here is my collection....
Horrible pictures - I apologize. In the past my collection included but now gone and not pictured was Gen 1 Orange Monster that I gave my son and a orange dial Sumo, and an original white dial Sami now sold.
I struggle with proper references and names. Apparently some models have different reference numbers for the Japanese market then for the rest of the world. Also like Rolex some models have nicknames by collectors. Not sure I have that right either. Top row left to right: 1. Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGH271 - Rikka (early summer) 2. Seiko Diashock - SARB? 3. Seiko SBDC109 - Capt Willard reissue or a copy there of the reissue? Bottom row left to right 4. Seiko Marine Master - SBDX017 5. Seiko SBDC081 - Green Sumo with new 70 hr caliber 6R35 6. Seiko Black Monster Gen 1 Outside the box 7. Seiko SKX011J - latest acquisition thanks to the recent SKX thread in this forum. It was an aftermarket awesome jubilee bracelet. Lastly for what it is worth all watches were purchased new by me. Thanks all for allowing me to share. |

Very nice! I’m tempted for that orange SKX. Here’s where I’m at. Would still love a white dial Seiko. Haven’t found the perfect one.
