This is highly unlikely to the point of being a super rare error, but mistakes do happen. If you send it to RSC, which serial will they use?!
Parenthetically your LV looks in fantastic shape.

well you heard wrong, they keep the watch if its reported stolen.

they refuse to service (obviously) if they believe its fake, but they do hand it back.

The case engraving between lugs look weird, I would suggest bring it to RSC for verification.

Thanks again all. I did hear Rolex keep the watches if fake / stolen which is why I was dubious about taking it into them. If they hand it back if it’s a fake then that’s a different story, I shall do that.

It was not bought new, but from someone I know who knows Rolex watches and deals with them on the net.. he went through so many rules to make sure he was buying a genuine one (off a genuine seller) and he admitted he missed the engraving between the lugs because it was only one digit short. He’s shown me pictures of the movement on his PC, also I’ve had the movement checked.

I may write to Rolex with this but doubt I’ll hear anything back.

I absolutely love the watch, and having subs / explorers before, it just ‘feels’ right, it shines in all the right places and looks amazing. ‘Every’ fake fake I’ve seen online I can spot something that’s untoward.

Who would put a real movement in a fake watch!?

Yes, lots of added value, double serial number +++
Omission of one number by Rolex ++++
Correct papers +++++

OP, ask RSC for a service quote, if anything wrong you will hear.
When all good you have a written RSC statement. ++++++ and a unique watch

not trying to scare you as from the pics i cant see anything wrong.

why dont you bite the bullet and call your RSC and ask them "If you do find that its not genuine do you confiscate it?"

This sounds very optimistic lol! But great for me if this happened. I’ll try and find a number for my nearest one. Thank you!

I know Kostas, but it is a bit scary lol. I’ll try and call them this week as I know the St james’ park is closed at the moment (London). I do think they’ll just say the numbers don’t match, cya later....

I truly suspect this may be one of those fake Submariners (the really good fake ones). I’m very sorry. It may even have a genuine movement. The serial numbers are consistent with the ones on these Submariners too.

Watchout section please.

I hope this doesn't infringe site rules, just trying to prove a point and help the guy.. I strongly suspect his watch is fake. Over 2000hits and nobody caught it, that's how frightening this is.

Same first digits. The last three look like 024 but that is worrying.

No smoke without fire guys.. Rolex either made a crazy mistake and also used a known fake serial run or that is a super fake as above. Hmm...

Why did you say in your previous post that you were “scared” to take it in to an RSC, in case they confiscated it?

I suspect you are correct and feel for you if you bought it in good faith thinking it was genuine.

Maybe I´m wrong, but I just compared your pics with my 16610LN and I might think the crystal sits a little to high ?

Then he wouldn't be able to reverse the trade.

Oh right, I would’ve been itching to find out personally if I had bought one and had suspicions.

Anyway, hope he sorts it out

Sounds like an interesting detail.
There were not many cases that were stamped twice during the transition to engraved Rehaut.

It would be especially strange for a counter fitter to bother stamping twice, let alone having two different stamps...this would make the least sense to me.

Rolex will want to “fix” it.
..in light of the evidence above, or you haven’t read the thread through yet?

The "16610 T" engraving looks terrible and spacings deviate with every 16610LV shown on e.g. HQ Milton.

This LV: 16+610+T
Original LV: 1+66+10+T

This.

Also, the font used for the “DESIGN” engraving between the lugs is noticeably off.
