Two things I don't like.
1. No date
2. In the pics, to me it's a little harder to see the minute and hour hands.

Even with the date, I'm out.

Oh well, guess I'll be one of those curmudgeons that holds on to the 11 series watches like those guys that hold unto the five digits.

me also !

I have a 5 digit and think rolex nailed it here. I still don’t like the green bezel, improved but still pastel like. People that feel that the lugs are not much different are lying to themselves. It’s not like the gmt where the slimmer lugs we a marketing gimmik, this is clearly and very noticeably slimmer lugs.

The shade of blue for the bezel looks great online. But in PM?? WG Sub should have a different color dial than black, at least the option. Yes the YG has a black dial but you can tell a big difference between YG and SS.

I predict the Smurf is going to have a jump in price on the gray market.

I’m not a fan of the new sub. Proportions are out of whack.

Rolex just updated their website as a result of the leaks.

My favorite of the all new models in the blue WG. I would definitely consider getting it.

The new Kermit is nice but the Hulk is better.

Underwhelming. It is very hard to see the differences side-by-side. Yes, the lugs are slightly slimmer. No color dials except for precious metal? Blue or green brezel. This is a big deal? Come on. After 20 years, maybe they could mix it up a little. Amazing that people get so excited about re-releasing an older color combo with a new cerachrome bezel. People see what they want to see. I remember when Porsche updated the 911 some years ago and there were almost no changes. But, man, how the front fascia was so amazing in the new car! Rolex is incrementalism and that's fine. The over-the-top reviews are just hype.

Not so fussed to be honest

As I’ve always said around here, I like dials. Interesting or colourful or both.

I’m not so bothered about square lugs, thin lugs, fat lugs or tapered lugs. The amount of polishing threads we get here means that these lugs won’t look the same again anyway.

On a serious note, I’m not so keen on the basic sub and bezels. I do think the YG blue dial is stunning. The TT blue dial knocks it out of the park. I’d consider trading mine for the new one. Other than that. Just a small upgrade to me.

That’s just my personal taste. I like to see very bold moves like the green and blue dial Daytona’s from 2016.

No doubt this is the best dive watch on the planet. Which just got even better with trimmer proportions and a bigger dial. It’s probably correctly proportioned now and I bet it wears incredibly well. I’m sure the hoards will be happy.

Stepping back as a collector. The “square” sub is going to be a decade blip in the Rolex back catalog. Bit annoying as I use to enjoy wearing my green sub, even my blue sub. The green is already at stupid prices. This will probably just make it worse. I use to enjoy wearing it outside the house.

That’s a good question. The Hulk will rise for sure. Not sure about the rest. I guess it all comes down to whether the majority prefer sleek lugs or not. I know I do.

I’m also wondering whether this will impact the price of 5 digit refs. Especially the 16610LV.

What have they done to the Bluesy?! They have lost the gold text and it has a SS crown!! Just looks weird with a gold bezel but no gold crown to me.

I like the sleek lines, but not enough to replace my 114060. Funny, the Sub page says "Conquering The Deep" which seems more apt for the SeaDweller. The SeaDweller page says "The Watch That Conquered The Deep". You would think their marketing dept could have come up with something better fitting for the new sub.

so for those of you who are excited about the new size (41mm), does the thickness of a drivers license (1mm) make that much of a difference?

I like my Bluesy, I was on a list for a Hulk. I think I iwll remove myself from the Submariner List. The Cermit is just OK. From being on a list for a Hulk to now the Cermit, I just do not see it.

Like the lugs better. 41mm vs 40mm will have to see/feel in person.

The WG is a huge fail. I see smurf prices rising.

Yes. 1mm on a dial is significant. 2mm is gargantuan.

I’m not sure it’s a move in the right direction. I always thought 40mm was the sweet spot and admired Rolex for not caving in to the growing trend. However the sleek lugs should more than offset the dial. I look forward to seeing one in the flesh.

I suspect the five digit will still look the best.

Will this be the submariner line up for the next 7-10 years? Does this nullify the possibility of a blue steel sub?

I think it's a once in a decade event, best case scenario. And that's saying something.

I like every generation, also this one.

There is a render showing the Bluesy with a gold crown now but the main selection shoes it with a SS crown. Very strange. Hopefully it still has the gold crown and it's a mistake on the website.

Conceptually its proportions look the best. However, there is no denying that it has a cheap look/feel nowadays. The machining and materials are in a completly different league.

Lug to lug dimensions will help address this question

I like the overall look, but I'm not thinking that the Sub needed another millimeter, but it is what it is.

As for me, my 14060M will always be the perfect Sub.

I agree. I was super excited seeing the bluesy. I wanted one again. Than someone mentioned the crown was stainless and it threw it off completely for me.
