i would go for both......the way i look it at is, this is not going to be the last watch that you buy.....and while the SS is available at a reasonable price, u shud go for it....really....the WG will always be available and there will always be discounts on it....so u can still easily pick that up at a later date...however, if u do end up going for the WG, get the black mother of pearl dial with the roman numerals....its is the ultimate sex bomb....

Myself not a lover of any precious metal watches both SS and the white gold has the same movement. And proportionally price paid the SS should have a higher resale value over the gold if you should want to sell. And white gold looks very much like SS from a distance so if it had to be gold it would be yellow or rose for me.

Link for quite a few dial options on TRF.

I tried on the black face wg and ss model at the AD where I bought my ss Daytona. There was a weight difference (the wg being a little heavier) and a slight colour difference between the two.

Honestly, if you didn't have the two watches side-by-side to compare, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference (unless maybe you were a jeweller and you studied the watch closely.

If you're concerend about other people knowing that you have a wg watch when you're wearing it, forget it, know one would know - they would think it ss.

Cheers!

If price is not a factor, I would go with the WG. The dial options are much nicer.

One thing I read was that WG scratches easily and that the re-sale is not so good. I don't plan to sale it ever!!!

Your thoughts and suggestions are most welcome.

Purchase location must be in UK, I've been offered it for £13.5k (WG) SS £6.7k unless cheaper in another country.

Thank you kindly for your help.

They are both nice watches , keep in mind that WG or any gold watches scratch very easily and if you wear it regularly you will have to take it in once and while to have it re-polished .
I do like the arabic numerals on WG dials , which you do not get on SS ( unless you have it changed )

Not sure how many polishes the watch case would withstand, but I believe Larry (Tools) posted a while back saying that the life expectancy of a TT band was about 6-7 polishes.

IMO you need to factor that in if you are considering using the watch 24/7.

well if money is not an issue as you said and you dont intend to sell it ever i say go with the wg. personally though i went for the ss daytona black..thats the sad thing about a wg daytona you cant even distinguish it from a far from a daytona ss.. well 0f course wg face is different...but still the ss daytona is better choice thats for me.

I spoke with Rolex UK today, they advise me that there was only a limited amount of dials for the SS, however WG version had many more.

The dials are not inter-changeable as this would be classed as Fraud!!!

Labour cost £120+Vat for change + dial cost.

For white gold there is a Silver dial, a Black Dial, Black MOP, Meteorite, a white dial with arabic numbers and a blue with arabic numbers, a pave diamond dial and probably about 4 or 5 more that i don't remember off.
For SS there is only black or white, and i do have to agree with Tools, i love the WG bezel.
I would go for a White Gold Daytona with the Silver dial.

Not sure who gave you your info.

The dials are interchangable, if you can source a WG dial it will fit a SS. And What are you talking about fraud? If you want it, and change it, what is fraudulent about that?

If you do the dial change on a standard model within 3mths, no charge for the dial, just the £120 + VAT.

Hi,

I do understand that the dials are interchangeable, however if you send your SS and ask Rolex service centre to put a WG dial on it..they won't as advised by them. this is because they want to keep the look of the SS and WG separate. so people can tell the difference.

I don't know if this is true, but this was what I was told today by them.

Rolex wont do it, but an independent with a Rolex parts account can source a dial, and fit it to your SS.....

Don't listen to them, they just give you the Corporate answer, anything is possible with a friendly independent ;)
