the hype is nuts, but the fever will break some day. The secret is to take the emotion out of it and only buy what you like and can afford.

They were definitely selling for a short period post discontinuing above $21,000, maybe not a lot of sales but there were confirmed sales. They are back down to $18,000-$19,000 for a decent piece with box/card. Ironically there are also more Hulks on the market now then during the crazy few weeks it had. I think alot of greys took their pieces off the market to see what the watch was going to do before offering it.

It seems me that ss sport watches are starting to trickle in to the dealers and becoming quite a bit easily to get biased on all the new “incoming” threads on this site.

Lot of generalizing going around both ways! Yes there are some people buying them cause they've wanted and never got around to acquiring one... for a lot of people in this hobby the money isn't a big factor if its what you want !

Congrats man! Yes, I’d say money is not a factor if you’re paying double msrp. I see you’ve been a member since 2011. Were you not interested in 2017 when they were languishing on the market for 7.5k?

For me, money is always a factor.

Yeah this is why I could never pay current hype pricing for any watch. If ever since release, a current model was sold out and at these levels, I could be swayed. But when you’re talking about watches which were selling *under* MSRP just a few years ago, now double? Couldn’t bring myself to do it, not a chance. It’s not like a stock running up 100% and can continue going on and on.....these are tangible goods which have a definitive ceiling and could come crashing down if trends float another way..

Not a slight at anybody who does pay above MSRP, just my own logic

I believe that, in the future, the Hulk (116610LV cerachrome/sunburst dial) will be seen as the most desirable in the LV series. Looks better than the new version no doubt. The sunburst green dial may not be done again...who knows?!

Who ever really wanted a Hulk had one before being discontinued. It’s not a watch that’s universally desired and the only thing that changed was future supply thus artificial speculation. Supply is obviously up now on the secondary market and prices should continue their downward slide

Some of the very people who now own a hulk were saying before ‘who would wear an all green watch?!?’. Even your local AD can verify this, these were hard sales for most of their life

I agree it looks better than the new release however ANY watch in production for 10+ years that was not a limited edition will never ever reach collectability status.

Its hype. Hype and collectability are two vastly different things.

Definitely not true. The last 2yrs they were nigh impossible to source. I think people forget they hit 17k BEFORE discontinuation. For a watch that is so allegedly despised, that sure is a data point that doesn't support the hypothesis.

Yep I even was saying in one of those threads for that guy to go and reverse his deal and that he's gonna regret it. Swapping his 116618LB for a 116610LV. That was a retarded trade and 1 for many ppl to learn from.

Imagine trading for the LV at its absolute peak whilst all the gold pieces have continued to go up. He's taking a bath both directions.

And then rubbing salt in a wound when they realize they don’t even like the watch that much, they just liked the idea of it

I’ve said it before and will say it again

Nautilus, Daytona, Hulk, Jumbo.....all of these super hyped models.....let the grey price fall back to MSRP and WELL over half the people who ‘love’ them and consider them their ‘grail’ would no longer be interested.

I was looking at them prior to being discontinued and definitely never had a problem finding one through a grey in the $14k - $15k range. Sure there may have been an occasional crazy post at $17 but that would have been out of the norm. Never pulled the trigger because it just wasn’t worth it for me at those prices. The fact it’s been discontinued has not driven me to go out and get one because nothing has changed but hype. They’ll come down because the hype will move to another piece soon. Shiny things will always attract certain people. Once the influencers have something else to move on to, this will be a distant memory

Wait a minute, you mean $25k+ Hulks aren't in fact the "new normal" which was being said a few weeks ago? Quelle surprise.

I don't have any sympathy at all for folk that were desperate to get in on the action at high prices. That's the risk you take paying grey prices.

However, if a buyer truelly loved the watch (and didn't just buy it for the gram), then price becomes secondary. Sadly I know that won't be the case for many many of these folk.

Watchfinder have Hulks for £17,18K. A new unworn one would be £20K.
