I love my DJ with diamond markers.

I think different markets definitely have different preferences.

The DJ is an all-around watch. The diamond dial is at odds with this versatility.

My wife bought me a blue DJ 41 diamond dial fluted jubilee as an anniversary gift. We were at the store together. I liked, and at the time probably preferred, the stick dial but I saw how truly excited about the diamond dial she was so that is what I went with.

I have no regrets. It dresses up or down. I am retired so generally I am in standard issued Florida shorts and t shirt. Depending on the light many times you don't even realize that the markers are diamonds. This and my Glashutte PanoMaticLunar are the watches that I receive compliments from strangers on.

To me it's jewelry, just not my style. Years ago I was a little into jewelry such as gold necklaces or bracelets and a diamond ring or few., that was then. Now I have a one diamond solitare WG wedding ring, thats enough jewelry for me.

I think it's too obvious and attractive. I personally won't feel comfortable with it on.
So it's a no for me..

Plus it's too expensive for something I don't like...

So the lower lug on the left has 7 diamonds and the one on the right has 6?

It looks off. The lugs as well, very thin and spiky.

I could totally wear a DJ 41 with a diamond dial. I draw the line at a diamond bezel though. For me the issue with diamonds isn't male vs female it is they have little to no actual value. They are not rare or scarce. If you don't believe me go buy a diamond and then try and sell it after you walk out of the store.

I would consider only a baguette dial, preferably a dark dial. Otherwise the diamonds are simply too small for the dial, there is some sense of emptiness, even more under poor light, when the bling is off. So I could imagine them on a DD.

Loved my rhodium DJII w/ diamond dial but it lacked the sense of everyday wearability (even though most people never noticed the diamonds). Also the spacing of the diamonds always seemed too lateral to the center of the watch giving it an "empty" feeling on the dial. I think this may be why the sticks are a bit more visually appealing.

For me its not the price, but the diamonds that makes the watch less attractive. Does not belong on a mans watch IMO, and given the choice between a dial with and a dial without diamonds for the same price, I would leave the bling behind.

Would wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Diamonds add some pop. Would I own only one watch with diamonds......no. 4 out of my 18 watches have diamonds and I love to wear them but a bezel full of diamonds is not my cup of tea. Hour marker diamonds are a nice accent. I can't tell you how many men have complimented my watches with diamond hour markers.

Have the exact same DJ and your are right. It is a gorgeous dial. Mine does not really have the pinkish or greenish colors in it. More white appearing.

I like baguette diamonds on a larger watch but the combination of 36mm (which I generally like) and a diamond dial makes it look a bit too feminine for me.

I don’t mind, with all the divers and other casual watches it’s nice to have this to turn to. It’s true the price is higher and most people will avoid extras not Rolex uses the best of the best. If it was my only watch I’d probably still get it like this.

Are the diamonds they use to too small to have a real effect? E.g. in light, are the diamonds quite subtle or very obvious?

The diamond markers just don't look that great on the DJ41. I think the it would look much much better with baguette hour markers like on the DD40.

Thanks for all the interesting responses - as expected its a matter of personal taste.

To the responses which said its too bling - just want to share that they should at some point of time try it on their wrists, yes the markers do give the dial character but nowhere close to being blingy.

I am only referring to the markers on dial not studded on bezel.

I don't like diamonds on my watches, with the exception of my platinum PP's, which have the diamond discretely hidden on the case side.
