I said it as a joke. Of course, many watches can do those activities and more.

I believe the new 32xx movements are on par with the Migauss in that regard now.

I would say until the 32XX came along

Thank you...

Is the 32XX more susceptible to failure due to being kept in a pocket next to an iPhone, stored on top of a speaker magnet, or worn in outer space?

Tell your friend yes. One less potential buyer is probably one more watch in the market for those seeking for it. Hell yes. :)

And a lovely photo of a lovely watch it is indeed.
Unfortunately, this watch is worn in a manner that is much as would be expected of such a fine timepiece, and not subjected to any extreme usage...

3. Worn in open (outer) space

I was just wondering if any of these activities were common practice amongst Rolex owners, so I came to the most knowledgeable Rolex owners on the planet @TRF...

This has been a huge problem with me for years. I had to stop buying clothes with pockets.

I’d stop associating with people like that. Risk of getting dumber by association.

In the same pocket as your iPhone?

Or any watch for that matter, with any phone.

I was just wondering if it was common behaviour.

Especially if it was as common as storing your watch on a speaker magnet, or wearing it in open space.

Apparently, these are all good reasons not to purchase a Rolex...

Please post photo's.

Asking for a friend who has been unfashionably wearing watches on his wrist...

This is disappointing, but I was hoping, rather than expecting, that any one would meet the criteria.

Here's one contributed by another member on another forum...

Maybe not common, but super important. I recently issued an RFP for Luxury Wristwatches and some of the requirements were:

- Wristwatch must be capable of being stored on a speaker magnet for extended periods of time.

- Wristwatch should be capable of being worn in open space.

- Wristwatch must be capable of being placed in the pocket of an apparel garment for at least 24 hours.

- Wristwatch must survive being adjacent to a network-connected wearable device (smartphone, etc.)

Fantastic!

I know we will all be interested in the submissions you receive and the results of your testing, so that some definitive answers can be provided...

If an iPhone in your pocket is having adverse effects on a Rolex, imagine what it's doing to the more sensitive bits in the nether regions.
