Short lived? 214270 Mk1 and DJ II was over 6 and 7 years in production. Is that short lived?

I don't see much difference in mk1 or 2. Both great watches. One could argue the mk2 'may' be more desirable with its upgraded movement. Swings and Roundabouts, Apples and Oranges....etc.

Which upgraded movement?
Did Rolex announce any 3235 upgrades?
I don't think so.

That's another special thing about the Mk1, it's the only sports reference that had the new movement without the crown at 6. The flat 4 Kermit and the later font 4 also don't have much difference other than the different 4 font. The Mk1 and Mk2 SD43 have several differences on dial and minute hand and maybe font not sure.

I have already been offered a high price for my Mark 1 Dial SD by a collector
friend,so i have no doubt this will be the one to have in the future. It may be
crazy that a little missing crown can do this, but collectors are a special breed.

Just checked it's the crown, different writing font, (l) instead of (1) in 1220m and a shorter minute hand. That's a lot.

on the other side of this, if you're selling based on Padi's common sense instead of using actual market value, a.k.a. "hype", you might just sell yourself short... by thousands. In the case of the flat 4 it could be over 10k.

IMO the SD43 MK1 dial will eventually be valued higher than the others, but based simply on the general popularity and demand of the SD vs, let's say a sub or GMT, I don't think it will increase in value at the same rates as the flat 4.

If they discontinue the model or remove the red line, all bets are off. The value might sky rocket.

The only thing we know for sure is that no one knows anything for sure.

But they made it for like 8 years and nobody wanted it.

I had an F series LV that I sold and really made a huge profit on. I also happen to get the SD43 when it first came out. I do have the MK1. If it comes to pass then great. I love the watch so keeping it is something I planned on doing.

Would seem like the Hulk will get some growth on its value due to the green dial making it unique. I love my LVc.

you do realize that all of this type of talk eventually sends prices skyward & availability way down in the opposite direction...

In a distant future maybe, but unlikely. I'm actually waiting for it to be discontinued to offload mine (2017 mk1) and buy something else instead.

The flat four means that the number '4' on the bezel has a flat top.

Plan on keeping mine into retirement, then selling to put the money towards a house or boat.

I don't think there will be a significant difference in value between the mk1 and mk2.

X2.. Owned it, left it go due to uncomfortable. Its really just a big Sub and has my title of being THE most uncomfortable Rolex I have ever owned. Its case back design creates issues with many. A flatter case back and the SD43 would be a lot more popular as a daily dive watch.

If you want a Seadweller as a investment you should be looking to swap your SD43 for a Seadweller 4000.

THAT is be 1000x more collectible than any SD43 in 20 years time.

Agreed.

the SD4k 116600 would be on this list obviously..... as would the 1st generation Deepsea James Cameron as the bracelet and case dimensions changed on the Gen 2.
