Not theoretically, that would be true for durability.

But my original statement wasn't about the functionality of it being a tool watch. More of statement saying if they wanted to add PM, they should've went with full PM. The full PM watches would typically appeal more to the crowds.

I certainly would've considered a Pt. Explorer (especially if it stayed 39mm). It would've given a Platona vibe to the watch. It's so unnecessary it becomes brilliant! haha

This forum is sooo funny...

It was only yesterday that quite a few were day-dreaming in awe with the amazing and historical 36 mm size...

And suddenly... Today the gates of hell open because we have a tiny 36 mm and no more 39 mmm Wrong if you do, wrong if you don't. We cannot be satisfied!

No right or wrong.
No matter 36 or 39, you can enjoy/not enjoy.
It's all personal taste.

Lol I swear the look is growing on me a bit. I also thought it is interesting no dial changes for the datejust 41, but 36 did.

Imagine a TT Explorer on Everest.....

2022: Explorer II will be available in rose gold with diamond markers... mark it down!

But, if some love it, that’s cool, too.

At least with the TT Sea-Dweller there’s precedents with other Rolex divers being gold or TT.

EDIT: I just saw the price. €10,200!!

Really need the gold to explore the polar and the summit. I think rolex should diamond the bracket too.

I don't get a PM Explorer either, or a PM Sub for that matter. Sir Edmund Hillary or James Bond wouldn't wear either.

Times are changing. Not everyone likes change but eventually one has to keep abreast with developments in order to survive and thrive. So expect more bling, even on the most traditionally austere references.
As for this one, I really like the look. It might not be for me and frankly I just don't agree with it being named an Explorer. But I believe that was a clever move; they also issued it at 36mm so they can target a broader audience. Well played, Rolex!

They're probably targeting the Asian market, Hong Kong alone has what, 50+ ADs?

Does the TT version come from the factory smelling like tapioca pudding and green been casserole, or will this be an owner modification ?

What’s wrong with it... well literally everything!

God knows what ideas they left on the drawing board considering they decided to approve this dross!

Full gold or white gold with a green dial or white would have been a nice commemoration update. 36mm doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
