TT explorer. The concept is a let down.

Explorer II comes to us and omits any 50th celebratory aspect. Surprised... but, they let it remain a tool watch. Cheers to them for that.

The rest, general surprise that left me underwhelmed. But that’s ok. I have too many modern ones, anyway!

Lots of other cool stuff like this out there!

Definitely the YG BB58 by Tudor. With precious metal in the picture, it has stepped into the big-bro's territory. Having said that, I have to respect their 'daring to dare' attitude in product development.

The 36mm Explorer1 for sure! I never dreamed that Rolex would bring it back. Not ever. No single watch has been able to totally satisfy me since I sold mine a few years ago. I did not want to take a chance with pre owned. Now the 36mm Explorer 1 is back. It is better than ever. It is like a dream come true! And I am waiting (im)patiently! I even removed myself from a waitlist for the GMTII Root Beer. No other Rolex can satisfy me like this one!

Cheers
Carl

I feel the same way about my 114270.

There's just something about that watch that gets me every time I put it on.

Sure, it was my first Rolex, but the love affair is much deeper than that.

Biggest surprise? That the prices didn't go up.

For me the biggest surprise for the new Rolex announcement was the coming back of Oyster on BLNR as well as the addition of Oyster on BLRO. I thought Rolex was making sure that only the precious metal GMTs were getting the Oysters.

It's nice having the option of Oyster vs Jubilee on SS GMTs though. d

Lack of change for Explorer II was surprising too as it is the 50th anniversary and all, would have thought there may be at least a special dial or some tweaks to commemorate it. Oh well...

I wish I could unsee them. They are hideous. Meteorite is killed on WG and Platinum. But the RG and YG options are huge swing and a miss.

Lackluster explorer changes... very disappointing. Opportunity to do a huge 50th anniversary model was lost. Very surprised.

Rolex frowns on mixing and matching parts and in fact restricts the sales of parts and they will not service a watch until it is brought back to it's original state.

So, while it is possible to buy an OEM bracelet, they are not easily come by and usually are sold at a considerable premium on the secondary market.

Like the explorer back to 36. My two favourites are DJ Wimbledon dial and Blue Motif on the DJ. Looking forward to seeing that in person.

Exp II.. I had wished they incorporated more aspects of the original “McQueen”, not just the existing orange hand and steel bezel.

I love it as it is, but they could have been a bit more adventurous IMO.

Definitely hadn't anticipated a 36mm Explorer. I hadn't given much thought to what might be new this year...I saw the speculation here, but followed that only lightly...but I certainly didn't think they'd "go back" to 36mm.

I'm personally pleased, since I've always regretted passing on a 36mm Explorer just after that reference was discontinued in favor of the 39mm. I've had a 39mm Explorer for ten years, a keeper for sure, but that 36mm still beckons. So, I'm pleasantly surprised it's back. It's a shame, though, they couldn't offer the Explorer in 36mm and 39mm.

the 124270 is not exactly the 114270 though. The size of the 3,6,9 for one.

The EXII with really no major change. While yes Rolex will do that like with the new Sub, I don't recall them doing one with absolutely no other variant with a significant change (like adding the Cermit and the WG blue bezel sub with the new releases).

If they were going to keep the SS bezel on the EXII, I would've though they would've at least offered like a blue or green dial to add to the collection or something.

Oyster SS BLRO. I didn't see it coming because I've wanted it so much.

One or two posters deduced this (albeit speculatively) from the teaser, although it wasn't clear if it applied to both the BLRO and the BLNR. I thought that was rather good detective work.

36mm explorer was a unexpected move. Same as the two tone.
