It looks great. IMO, they could have kept the 39 in production as well. I imagine they are very different watches when on the wrist.

I also like the text layout better on the 39mm.

Only experience I have with 36mm watches is my wife's datejust and it's just too small for my wrist. I prefer the Explorer in the previous 39mm and am really glad I have one in my collection.

The 36mm looks like a toy.

That photo shows how the 39 just seems so much better and suited for purpose.

I think they brought the classic design into the modern era brilliantly. To each his own tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

36mm Explorer from 1959 to 2010. But 36mm in 1959 is HUGE watch and it was made to be big watch for Explorers. Now, you want 36mm as sports watch which is smaller for even dress watches? Hardly makes sense. Great if you think there is no change in watch sizes from 1959 to 2021.

I like both, but if given the choice would go with the 39mm because i don't like how cluttered the top half of the dial is on the 36.

I prefer the 124270 36mm, but before that I prefer the 114270 36mm.

I’m used to wearing dive watches, 40-42mm, so the 39mm feels great to me. I’ve tried on DJ36s a few times in ADs and they always feel too small for my liking.
IMO both the 36mm and 39mm have their merits and i think it’s a shame both aren’t on offer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It looks so small but awesome at same time. Really cool for Rolex to release the 36. Really wish they didn’t do the Gray market any favors with the 39mm (which I own) but that shouldn’t take away from the 2021 release.

I am not a fan of the Explorer nameplate upstairs. Happy for people that wanted the fit of a 36mm. Sad to see the 39mm range gone (for now).

I own 35mm vintage watches, mostly on leather strap, but the Exp on the pic above is way too small IMHO.

I’m curious about something. Why did they have to sandwich three lines of text in the upper half. There’s almost no spacing between the lines.

Had the 39 but let it go, the size never felt right. Best get my name down, this could be the one watch collection (to go with the others ones 😉)

Proportionally I prefer the 36mm.
Not so easy to tell from pics but on the wrist, The downward curve of the lugs on the 39mm presents as the squared off lugs of the maxi case.
