Good point. For those that can afford it, why not?

Agreed.

The wealthiest people I know buy yachts, mansions, and ultra high end cars. Majority of them wear Apple watches. One has a DSSD and the heir to a drug company wears a hulk he got as a graduation present. No real interest in watches.

I feel like the people buying these watches are fringe millionaires who aren’t necessarily wealthy- make a million a year but spend 2 mil kinda people .

Sooooo glad I’ve no interest in any of these new pieces. I’m just sitting back and watching my 5 digit Rolex’s get more and more expensive.

Happy to simply see these pop up in the wild. Hopefully local ADs can pump a few through the front door and we'll see some direct incoming threads soon.

My new apple series 6 watch arrives tomorrow. Still love my sub date (wearing it as I type this). If and when the craziness subsides I will be back in the Rolex market. If not, happy with my modest collection.

I have the 116710BLNR which was on Oyster, but my AD was able to order me an extra 78200 as I wanted to place my BLRO on Oyster. (I had ordered this before the new ones were announced)

It fits perfect no gaps, etc. just have to use the BLRO spring bars.

It'll be a bit tough to order one, just have to find an AD to order it for you.

I'll shoot you a PM.

Would they pay over listing price on a piece of property? Genuine question.

Can one not walk into a Rolex service centre and buy a Oyster?

A few points to consider:

- asking price is not necessarily the selling price

- a quick story to demonstrate the point:

someone was yelling: "I want to sell my mother", another asked: "what kind of person would sell their mother? what kind of person are you?" The guy answered: "Don't worry, I would ask such a high price that no one would buy her at!"

There is something to be said about being the first grey dealer with a jubilee Skydweller or a 126710 on oyster (remember a few years ago, who was the first who had the 126710 on jubilee? yes, DSW). Having these items on your website, ready to be shipped, adds to your status of the top grey dealer in town. If I had that site, I wouldn't want to sell these right away... I get more traction from this type of hype than I do from actually selling that first BLRO.

- open market, he can ask $50k for all I care... I won't pay that much, but hey, if someone comes and pays it, good for them too.

Depends, in part, on the price of the property.
For example, a $200k property is going to attract a lot of potential buyers and could go for well over asking price in a seller’s market. A property selling for $20MM has a small pool of potential buyers. I’m guessing few would offer more than asking in that price range.
-I could also be all wrong on this.

I would think these posts about gray market sellers and how much they are asking for a watch would be forbidden on TRF.

Yes we all know pricing in general is crazy. This price point will come down to the 126710 pricing of a a couple weeks back within the next few months IMO. It’s a brand new release, of course the first on the market is going to cost a fortune. Can’t believe anyone is even surprised by this anymore.

I would second this. I actually think we need a separate section for watch price speculation and current market values etc. I think it would actually be kinda interesting to have that discussion separate from the main forum.

Might as well purchase a PM GMT for that price. I could not have predicted the current trend. It is like people are realizing that life is too short to save a pile of money for nothing.

Worse thing about it is he probably got it right from an AD who didn’t even bother calling or selling to a customer. End of the day one of them should go. No need for both ADs and Grays. If Rolex allows it then just get rid of the ADs.

White gold BLROs are going for over retail as well and north of $40k.

I remember when they redid the explorer 1 years ago and everyone thought the grand people were paying over MSRP was a lot.

To each their own but I can't imagine shelling out that much of a premium for that.

I agree with the first part. For $10k more you get a PM. I however think people are just spending like drunken sailors and the days of actually saving a pile not for nothing but for actually retiring and not working your entire life has left some people.

Sure life is short. Sure if you got it spend it. Sure folks are at completely different $$ amounts. For us we are saving our piles to retire well before 60 and enjoy life not slaving for the man.

Agree that you either go with PM (if you can get one) or Root Beer which is a much better value even if you buy gray and just as nice as any ss piece.

Right?

I can’t remember what the jubilee version started out at when it was released but I’d say there’s some inflation going here.

I wonder, would DavidSW come on here and declare where, and how much he pays for his Rolex's.
For example: Who did he buy the 29K BLRO from and, for how much?

No, I thought not.
