Those OP’s are way over hyped and not worth to me what they are bringing. If you could buy the watch at msrp then maybe. You bought the right watch, I’ve owned most every watch I ever wanted and I myself have settled quite happily with a 5 digit Datejust. It’s perfect until I see your blue 41. That’s a sweet watch, but please ditch that wood bracelet .....

DJ is the better choice generally, but if you don’t connect with it you should go with the OP. Nothing worse than not connecting with something you’ve spent thousands on.

The other thing to consider: DJ will always be very shiny but if you one day decide the OP in a bright dial is too much, that can be made black or silver at service.

DJs are always classic.
The OPs in a bright dial, hard pass.
The wood beads...you knew you were going to get comments :)

I think the DJ looks great. Wear it and give it some time. If you still aren't bonding get the OP.

I've had 2 DJ41 within the last 2yrs. My first was 2019 smooth bezel ss bracelet, other was 2020 jubilee bracelet smooth bezel. I sold both over time and don't miss them at all.
Sold the 1st one to help fund Explorer II polar and the blue 2020 after that.

You have to buy what you will enjoy wearing more. However, I believe you made the right choice, even though a yellow or red OP41 might be more "fun" to wear in the short term.

OP- don’t make a hasty decision- relax and wait. You have an absolute classic. Give it a bit before you jump. Yep the yellow and red is cool (to some of us) but honestly in 10 years….you’re current watch will continue to be a classic and the yellow and red and turquoise- meh. Every watch now producing lots of colors. Might become a “COVID era” thing.

Just have patience. I’m convinced our grey dealers - and I’ve used them- love hasty decisions. Just my .02

If it doesnt make you smile, its not for you .

Only buyers remorse I had was with a 5 digit white Expl II ,didn't work for me and sold it quickly .

MUCH more not buying remorse, than buyers remorse .

That's a great choice. Can go for any setting the OP would. Obviously, you know what you want--but if it were me, I'd have no remorse at all

While I don't agree they are hideous, I 100% agree they will not stand the test of time. And I also agree that the DJ41 as you have is a timeless classic that you can wear for a lifetime and it will never be out of style. I agree, the OP made the right choice. That being said, I'd still love a Coral Red, but I also have some other Rolex models that will stand the test of time to fall back on.

I’d take the DJ over any of the OPs, which I don’t like at all, but that’s me. You should always get what you want.

As others have said I think the new OPs (well, the brightly coloured ones) will not stand the test of time. They’re an over-hyped “trendy” oddity that I’m pretty sure will leave a few owners cringing in a few years time. I’ve said before that Rolex could release a dog biscuit on a rubber band and as long as it has the crown logo on it, people would buy it.

The DJ41 most definitely WILL stand the test of time and as such it’s a total classic. Impossible to go wrong with it IMO.

The Datejust isn’t better than the OP41. Just different. I prefer the OP because the case is thinner, less crown functions, no cyclops, less expensive etc.

If you really don't like it or are not wearing it, sell it.....you should not have remorse spending that much hard earned cash. Just make sure you don't get 'sellers remorse' after moving it on.

I wouldn't be worried about the OP colors going out of style. Look at the colorful Stella dials on the DD's from the 80's, and look at the prices. Not only are they still desirable to this day, but Rolex decided to do it again with the OPs.

To the OP, I'd give it a little time, but it sounds like you may have broken the do not settle rule. Always go with the one you really want. Good news is that it won't cost you much if you need to unload the DJ.

You grabbed a great watch there. Try to enjoy it then add a OP when one comes available.

You’ve got the PERFECT DJ41 ..!! I love it .. hang onto it, out the wood bracelet on the other wrist .. and express interest on the OP to your AD and just ask if you can get a realistic expectation of when you may be able to buy one .. I have the turquoise 41 and love it .. BUT, I’ve got a lot of other Rolex watches as well ... if I didn’t have a whole lot, I would say what you have is better all day everyday twice on Sunday
